As far as I know, lysine and vitamin C work for both the herpes simplex I and II (cold sores and genital herpes) and for varicella zoster (shingles). There are several papers abstracted there that find antiviral activity with officianalis (lemon balm). In particular, it has been shown to be effective against herpes simplex types 1 and 2 and against HIV-1. I well remember that you have been telling us how beneficial is for years! I'm going to write Loomis about this, to see if the HHV-6 Foundation has any interest in testing it against HHV-6.
