I make homemade liquid LDN for my girlfriend who has Hashimoto's

Thyroiditis and she says it tastes terrible, very bitter. We get the

Naltrexone tablets from River Pharmacy, too. Called Nodict.

I get my LDN from Skip's Pharmacy and because I can't swallow pills I open the capsule and put it in a spoon and mix it with juice and this last batch I got tastes very bitter but the ones I've had before this batch wasn't bitter at all. I know Skip said he changed manufacters.

I got mine with script. It has lactose as a filler and it doesn't

taste bad. I pull out 4.5 mg in a large dropper and squirt it to back of throat

so none gets under my tongue. No bad taste. Could it be a difference in fillers?

Thanks Art and Crystal,

The first pill I mixed and used was Nodict

from River Pharmacy and though I didn't

taste it it was helping me lots. The second

pill I mixed was also from River but a different

batch. I noticed in the last few days that my

symptoms are coming back, and today tasted

it when I dropped a little on my finger. It

wasn't bitter. It just tasted like water. So now

I think I'm not even on LDN. I'm pretty upset

about it.

Has anyone else using River found return of

symptoms? I can't be the only one.

Hi Jaco,

I got my naltrexone through River Pharmacy, by way of India, the

first week in April. It did taste a little bitter, and gave me good

results for fibromyalgia.

If I were you I would call River and talk with a pharmacist.

Oops, please disregard my previous message. The self-mixed-tablet-

liquid I started out with was not from River ( have not opened that

back-up package yet) but from Costco.

Sorry, my bad. Maybe the fibro-fog isn't as cleared away as I

thought, but it is late, and it's been a long day!

Konnie,

Tell me, if you don't mind, the batch number

on your River tabs. I did talk to River. They're

sending a new and different batch. I suppose

there's a remote possibility that the one tab

I dissolved was mostly excipient and very little

naltrexone.

I have had some liquid ready made up LDn from Dickson's chemist in Glasgow, it is a blue colour, consistancy of thin syrup, and not too unpleasant to taste, not bitter....... Depends what they mix it with I guess....

Thanks Celia,

Mine is a Nodict/distilled water solution which ought

to

have a bitter taste and doesn't. And my use of this

new

batch happens to coincide with symptom return. Ouch!

The blue stuff in yours is probably a flavor cover-up.

Hello Jaco,My son has taken LDN from AllDay Chemist (India) and River Pharmacy. Both were pills to be mixed with water and both taste(d) bitter. I know he started to feel slightly better very quickly with pllls from AllDay Chemist. He took them last summer. He neglected to keep up with the LDN. He started up with LDN (from River) May 8th and because he is at home I know he has missed only 3 or 4 days BUT he has not gotten the same ....what would be the word? Relief, I'll say. He doesn't think the LDN is workingOf course that could be the filler. I am looking online now to see if I can order from AllDay again----I think I ordered from River the second time because AllDay didn't have the LDN listed. Okay, I rambled on but short answer is: pills to be mixed with water from River and AllDay, both bitter tasting. It could be, I have no freaking idea any number of things, but River pills not helping. Allday pills helped quickly.Lauriegrammar drop-out>> Hi,> > I have a batch of naltrexone from River Pharmacy. It> arrived> the second week of May. Laurie,

Thanks. So you too have an early May batch from

River and think it's not working so well. River

called

me last night and said they'd ship a different batch

number to me. Well, I hope that solves the problem

for me, but if it doesn't that's a lot of money down

the drain.

Would you call them and mention your batch is not

working as expected?

I wonder how many newbies are using a batch

from River which is sub par?

morning Jaco, I will contact River and let them know. hmmm, i am looking at foil pkg now and 1 side is printed with Nodict in silver surrounded by a purply-blue(plus other wording), the other side has the batch number? I get my naltrexone from River Pharmacy also. It is very bitter and

I put it in a small amount of juice. The folks at River are very

helpful and nice so I would contact them about the batch you

received. They probably will make good any problems.

Thanks Laurie,

Mine says B.No..:AD72374, MFG:12/2007.

It's unlikely that two batches are poor quality.

I suppose it's possible one pill is all excipient

and no active ingredient. Far fetched, but possible.

One thing the pharmacist said is that

taste is subjective. But bitter is bitter.

Hmm...curious.

Hi Laurie,

I am in northwest Washington, pretty much out on the edge of the

continent.

Beyond, there be dragons!

My Costco is in Sequim, WA. When I got my script, I called every

pharmacy in the area, Sequim and Port Angeles, to inquire about

their price on 30 tabs of Naltrexone 50 mg. Costco was by far the

cheapest, about $45.00-49.00, and my insurance covered it, so I only

paid something a little under $9.00. Such a deal!

I liked the self-mixed liquid just fine, even though I spilled and

wasted a couple of batches, but it is inconvenient for travel, so I

also got a prescription for LDN 4.5 mg, which I got from Belmar

Pharmacy in Lakewood CO. It comes in a little compressed, scored

tablet, so is easily broken in half, if needs be.

I have been very happy with the results from both forms of the med,

taking it primarily for fibromyalgia.

I don't know if Costco compounds anything. I do not think they are a

the one where you live.

I was told that the liquid LDN from the Compounding Pharmacies are pure naltrexone and the capsules have fillers so maybe thats the difference and why it may work better and faster.

Re: [low dose naltrexone] 50mg tabs in H20/taste?

Interesting. Against my protestations, my freind got LDN from a local compounding pharmacy. It first came in liquid form, tasted AWFUL, but worked within days. Then got another Rx for the pills because of the taste. Not as effective. Went back on the liquid, improvement returned. Moral of the story (from my perspective) is - be careful who fills your Rx - make sure they know what they are doing.

BUT...This does bring up another issue though. Is liquid more effective - does more LDN get into the system? Do the stomach acids break down the LDN capusles and render them less effective?

Maybe some experts here can jump in!
