Just make sure you get cold pressed pharmaceutical grade castor oil though. Use only the best you can get. Your body is worth it. Yes, DMSO can be quite drying to the skin. Better to add DMSO to an oil that will help keep your skin moisturized. -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man. Castor oil is very good at pulling stuff out of the body, as in toxins. DMSO takes stuff in and castor oil takes stuff out. Both of these are truly wonderful to have on hand. DMSO is a solvent, castor oil isn't, at least not in the same class as DMSO. The skin has a certain permeability that will allow molecules of a certain weight and size to readily pass through. Of course whatever passes through needs to be able to pass equally well through the lipids and water. This is where the terms lipophilic and hydrophilic come from. Most essential oils have this ability to pass through both and also are of the proper weight and molecular size. It would seem that DMSO, probably due to its solvency characteristic, can overcome the lipophilic and hydrophilic properties of the skin and carry other chemicals or medicines with it. This is why they have patches for everything now. -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man.
