Guest guest
Danny, Please refer your doctor to an article in the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Volume 102, Number 4, April 2007. The article is " Low-Dose Naltrexone Therapy Improves Active Crohn's Disease " , Jill , MD, et al. Your doctor ought to be able to get easy access to the full text. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17222320 IBD, colitis, Crohn's: I think the difference is in name only. Does anyone know for sure? And another boon from LDN as differentiated from Humira and all the approved drugs for Crohn's is that LDN also will interrupt cell proliferation of any precancerous cells or full blown tumors. How much of what part of your small intestine did you lose to form the pouch? Was it the ileum? You should be on LDN whether he Rxs it or not. What part of the globe are you in? Guest guest
Jaco,Thanks for your reply. My doctor has read the article in American Journal of Gastroenterology.Regarding my surgery, my understanding is that they brought the small intestine down and folded it back on itself for about 9" and then sewed it together, clipping it on the inside seam to open it up to be a larger intestine, like the colon. Then the attach it back to the anus. Not really sure where the ileum ended up. The surgery is called an ileo-anal anastamosis with a j-pouch. Mine was done 17 years ago. They did it in two stages with a temporary ileostomy. I think thay typically do the surgery in one stage now.You wrote:<<LDN will interrupt cell proliferationof any precancerous cells or full blown tumors.>>Where is the scientific basis for this statement established? What is your experience with LDN? Do you take it for a medical condition?
