Guest guest
Dear Angie, I am sorry you went through all of that. I try and intercept those that are new on the site and give them either general information on LDN or info regarding LDN and their particular disease or ailment. It helps a lot to know what others have experienced before you, so I try but can't reach everyone at the beginning. The best thing however is just to read through the official web site for LDN. I just forwarded some chats that I had saved regarding Thyroid and LDN use. Hopefully they will be helpful. My best Aletha [low dose naltrexone] LDN induced hypothyroidism - scared to try again Hey all,So I tried 1.5 mg of LDN and started having shortness of breath, rapid heart beat and my heart pounding in my ears. I went in to my cardiologist the next day who drew blood and I also had a stress test. I thought I might have had a heart attack but thank God it seems not. Turns out I became very HYPERthyroid. I've been taking 1/4 grain of armour thyroid for years. After this experience I read the warning on the LDN website saying that LDN could stop Hoshimoto's Thyroiditis and could require adjustment of thyroid. They were not kidding! I only took the LDN that one night, and I came off my thyroid over about 2 weeks time. I tried cutting it in half, but I was still feeling short of breath so I went off it completely. Now I'm feeling EXTREMELY HYPOthyroid. I'm exhausted, mentally impacted and in more pain. I figured the reversal of the hashimoto's wasn't permanent and either I need the thyroid again, or I can try the LDN again. I thought I should try the LDN again, because it seems to me that the answer is not to feed myself more thyroid but to reverse the need for the thyroid. It's just that I'm kind of scared to try it again because it really impacted my heart. I have a new bottle of LDN at .75 mg, and I was thinking of opening that up and trying a half capsule. I'm off the thyroid, so I'm hoping this should go okay. What do you all think? The thing that confuses me is that I started feeling symptoms of this hyperthyroid thing almost immediately after taking the one LDN dose - but this doesnt make sense to me. I thought it would take at least 1 full night to experience the changes from LDN. Don't you need to sleep through the night to get the immune changes? Thanks! Guest guest
for endorphines you need to go through the hours 2-4 am . someone from norway mentioned that the LDN might work like anti TNF because of similar receptors. i found out that copd crohn autism all have high TNF.if the anti TNF is what is helping in Hashimoto then that can happen very quickly. > > Hey all, > > So I tried 1.5 mg of LDN and started having shortness of breath, rapid > heart beat and my heart pounding in my ears. Guest guest
I'm confused... What about LDN could INDUCE HYPOthyroidism? And I thought that it was not true that LDN need sto be taken at night to receive benefit? Guest guest
Some people have found that the side effect of sleep problems have been alleviated by taking LDN in the morning. Also a number of people with thyroid issues have stated that it has been more beneficial for them to take LDN in the morning. But for the majority of ailments the night time dosing seems to be the best way to go. It also does appear that taking LDN for thyroid has a set of issues to be careful about. It is discussed on the official web site for LDN and there is a wonderful site that is devoted to thyroid issues. They look at many things, and they seem to be knowledgeable about LDN as well. If you have thyroid issues, let me know and I will send along their info. My private e-mail address is Aletha@... Guest guest
Thanks for the reply Aletha. Aletha wrote: <<<It also does appear that taking LDN for thyroid has a set of issues to be careful about. It is discussed on the official web site for LDN>> I know about the warning on the lDN site for those patients who are taking thyroid hormone replacement for a diagnosis of Hashimoto's thyroiditis with hypothyroidism ought to begin LDN at the lowest range (1.5mg for an adult). Be aware that LDN may lead to a prompt decrease in the autoimmune disorder, which then may require a rapid reduction in the dose of thyroid hormone replacement in order to avoid symptoms of hyperthyroidism. But i've never heard of LDN causing HYPO symptoms??? I think I misread the original post in this thread. Angie - when you got HYPO symptoms was it after you were off of the Armour?
