Seeds for 8. Normally your nuts are not going to sprout. Therefore, after soaking your drain them and leave them in the colander for a day and yes you can rinse them if you so choose. Seeds are different as they will sprout if not too old. For your dates, I would suggest you try 12 hours first and if they are still too dry for the blender then go for 24. I soak prunes for 24 hours and then they blenderize quite nicely. However, there are always some that are just plain stubborn, if you know what I mean. Hope this helps you. -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man. Guest guest
Well some say to remove the enzyme inhibitors. I used to believe in that theory but I don't subscribe to it anymore. Just doesn't make a lot of sense. Seeds and grains, hmmm.... maybe more grains then the seeds. There should be more than enough water in the digestive system to take care of problems of eating nuts and seeds raw without soaking. No one has ever soaked nuts or seeds until recently and I really don't believe anyone has ever been harmed from eating them unless they consume huge amounts at one sitting. Walnuts are high in tannins and soaking them helps mellow them out quite a bit as TerriLynne mentioned. Soaking nuts and seeds does tend to make them a tad more digestible however but not overly.
