Is he properly absorbing fats?

Carnitine can help with this [along with help with proper absorption

of fats].

At my house, it was mitochondrial dysfunction, not adrenals

I started with 250mg and worked up from there as required.

Choline is what digests fats; Choline is a Nutritional Supplement; a

member of the Vitamin family; I would suggest this a.s.a.p; very safe.

I'll send a list of foods high in Choline in a jif. SoyMilk has

Choline. Another name for Choline in Lecithin; found in Egg Yolks.

A. ps Choline is an essential nutrient

This meant yeast overgrowth at my house.

That would make sense - since he has been trying to avoid me seeing him

rub his eyes. I guess I was a little too trusting that it was really an

eyelash in his eye when he protested that it wasn't yeast the other

day. Guess I'll just have to make him take some GSE whether he thinks

he needs it or not. Maybe the oil slick is something that I never saw

before, but am wondering if yeast presentation changed for anyone as

they chelated.

Yeast overgrowth symptoms changed over time at my house. So yes, it

can be that.

We don't do Halloween, and the only supplement he has taken recently is

his C.

Hi ,

We've had the same thing happen here.

My son, who is skinny as a bean pole, had this oil slick for months

and it went away when I started giving him carnitine with his meals in

particular with any sources of fat. On the occasions where he doesn't

take the carnitine with meals, I usually notice an oil slick later in

the day or in the first morning urine the following day.

My daughter also was having this, but carnitine did nothing for her

(except turn her urine fishy even in small doses). For her, the

problem seems to be linked to adrenal insufficiency. I've recently

increased her daily doses of ACE and she has started HC as per Andy's

recommendation, and I no longer see the oil slick.

I was also shocked to see a slick in the toilet bowl for myself

several weeks ago and this coincided with a period where I was not

taking enough HC. So I'm assuming that adrenals were a factor for me

as well, though lord knows that I was tempted to keep the HC down just

to shed a few pounds!

If this is a new symptom, maybe your son is going through a period of

stress. The need for cortisol goes up during periods of stress and if

the adrenals don't respond appropriately, insufficiency occurs and

symptoms can be seen as a result. And if this is the case, then giving

(more) ACE would help.

I'd also still like to hear about other possible causes from others.

At our end, I don't exclude that other factors could also be

contributing.

Hmmm. . . so maybe he doesn't need the extra C anymore? He also gets C

rich foods. What about on rounds? I'm adding back in biotin, he had

stopped taking that 'cause yeast was under control.
