Guest guest
Hello. I have a dosage question for my son, 14, with Crohn's. I spoke to Dr. Skip the other day and he probably told me the answer, but that was before this issue came up and now I'm not sure what to do. Dr. Skip or anyone, please advise. My son is taking 2 mg LDN and coming off of a really bad Crohn's flare due to allergies. He is taking 20mg Prednisone and tapering. It was not an option to wait for 10mg dosage of steriods, and we do not think that is the issue. He's doing very well on LDN, has a huge appetite and feels really good all day. He has gotten up at around 4am the last 2-3 mornings to have something to eat.. maybe because his body is pushing to catch up nutrition now that he's feeling better (this would not be unusual), or maybe because of LDN.?? Then he sleeps a while longer and wakes up full of pleasant conversation and wants breakfast. However, in the evenings, he's cranky and irritable, kind of seeming tired and distressed like there's some kind of struggle- it's not a behavorial issue, but something to do with his body chemistry. Does this sound like low endorphins? I wonder if this means his evening endorphins are too low and what that means for LDN dosage.. should we increase or decrease? Guest guest
Hello Sherrie, We have been through similar scenarios. If I have to look for reasons behind your observations, based on our experience, the improved appetite could be attributed to 20Mg of prednisone. Prednisone is also well-known to cause crankiness. You are doing a good thing in getting on with LDN before Prednisone is tapered further. LDN should facilitate the tapering of prednisone, as we experienced. Also, we had better results increasing the LDN from 3.5 to 4.5mg. But the same dosage may not hold good for everyone. So in your case, trying 4mg for a few days instead of 2mg is possibly a good idea. I am sure you would be able to tell in a few days if it is helping or not. Good luck. -----Original Message-----From: low dose naltrexone [mailto:low dose naltrexone ]On Behalf Of sherrywphippsSent: Thursday, June 05, 2008 11:11 PMlow dose naltrexone Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Question about low evening endorphins... dosage question.
