Guest guest
The latest issue of " Wired " magazine contains an article on autism, with a focus on an individual who doesn't speak and has been considered " low-functioning " but blogs and otherwise communicates by typing. The article tends toward the 'ASD is a difference, not a disability' stance. It does, however, indicate that estimates of percentages of those with ASD with mental retardation is much higher than reality and that a little-used intelligence test --the Raven--is much more accurate and useful for nonverbal individuals than the commonly-used Weschler. http://www.wired.com/services/press/2008/march _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!
