It is hard to tell what has created the problem since he was left alone for

so long. You have no idea what else he could have done during that time. For

instance, draining the water left him in the cold. The body reacts and could

have put him into a minor shock or seizure type of state.

Perhaps his eyes rolled back in his head, or there was a stiffening or

shaking of his body that you missed. I would take him to the doctor, explain

what

happened and see if seizure are a possibility.
