from my mom the statistician . Here's the problem....when I asked her how stats

can become corrupted or manipulated she says that there are so many ways I could

not possibly list them all here. When a study is being done so that the end

result are statistics that are accurate and reflect the true data, alot goes

into it. Firstly, who is funding the study? When a company or agency funds a

study you have to become suspicious of the intent behind it. Do they want the

outcome of the statistics to be a certain way or suggest a certain trend? If the

people who collect the data and the people who analyze the data are working for

the same people, alot can go wrong. Secondly, the data that is compiled for the

stats....where does it come from? What is it based on? For example, when

researching whether or not autism is on the rise are they going by data comiled

from insurance provided doctors and neuros or

by school district enrollment or by state funded agencies? Does it take into

account the amount of possible undiagnosed children? Also, where is this study

based in? When we say California do they mean California as a whole state or do

they pick key parts of California then just " estimate " the numbers based on the

data collected from a few choice areas?

I take the position that stats are useful in certain situations, but when it

comes to trying to prove or disprove the cause, treatments, or increase/decrease

in autism rates I become highly suspicious of it all. There are just too many

factors to have true, uncorrupted raw data to be analyzed. When alot of people

have a stake in the outcome of a study, then it falls into the hands of people

bending statistics into what they want them to be ( on either side of the

issue).

On CNN last night there was information about the study of autism rates

in California. Obviously it stated that the ASD rates continue to rise

despite the removal of Thimerasol from vaccines. Is there any

information on this? I thought I remembered reading a while back about

how they were able to manipulate stats by how the age cohorts were

divided. Does this ring a bell to anyone? If so, please tell me where

to find it.

I like to have some ammunition in my pocket when a medical professional

tries to downplay my concerns about the current vaccines and the

current vaccination schedule. Thanks for your help.

Maggi,

Here's a reminder that there are sources of mercury other than dental

amalgam and vaccines.
