Guest guest
Has any parent used this probiotic blend before? It looks promising, but would I love any input about it before buying it. It has Saccharomyces boulardii, which is a good yeast, but I am not sure if this ok for my yeasty DD, if you KWIM?. Guest guest
My son did horribly on Primal Defense. Of all the tons and tons of supplements I have tried on him over the years, this was the only one which caused him to regress long-term. At the time, one of the ingredients was chlorella. I now believe the chlorella possibly may have been moving metals around in him, but not out. I have been told that since I used it, chlorella was removed from the ingredients, but I've never checked. At that time, I did lots of checking online to see what others felt about PD. Lots of people felt it helped them a lot. A few others besides my son did react poorly to it. Guest guest
I wouldn't use the other stuff because of the Chorella but I do use Primal Defense with success in me (IBS Colitis) and ASD son Mandi in UK

Guest guest
It is a soil-based probiotic, so that's why there may have been an issue.I really like the products- I personally felt my best on Maker's Diet with Garden of Life supplements & am about to return to it minus IgG allergies. I have an auto-immune disease & feel tired a lot. On that stuff I felt more energy than ever before (but don't know how much was the healthier eating vs. the supps.). Best, > > WOW! Guest guest
Ugh! Say it isn't so! I just bought this for myself and have been taking it for the past 3 days. From what I understand, Chlorella is terrible for people with sulfur issues. Before I knew that, we were giving our son Chlorella from our chiropractor's recommendation, and my son regressed quite a bit. Then we found out that he can't tolerate sulfur at all. Just a thought. Guest guest
Naturally occuring metals, most likely (doesn't mean it is OK). Like someone already pointed out, these are soil based organisms. I think we'd be amazed at what we'd find in most anything organic tested repeatedly. The question is how much lead or cadmium or other junk you'd find. I had awesome results with Primal Defense. It is literally dirt, though. Not easy to get in to my son! Unless someone showed me some legit testing indicating chronic contamination, I'd use it and recommend it to anyone. Another issue with all soil organisms is apparently mold growth. I think I read this when looking at a new probiotic product that claimed NOT to have the mold potential, so you'd have to look in to this further. Guest guest
I did call Life Science and they are supposed to get back to me with an assay, however, the women pretended not to know what I was talking about. I'll post back when and/or if they call me back. I could be wrong, but I'm not holding my breath. I always wanted to use Primal Defense, as I had heard it was a good product, but Jackie McCandless warned against using it after she saw the assay for it, so thinking the amount of lead in the product is probably not advisable. Re: [ ] Re: Garden of Life probiotic We use GOL, Primal Defense and it is very effective for us. SBO (soil based organisms) are the best form of probiotics even if there is a risk of small amounts of natural metals in it. We also use SBO from Nature's Biotics 435-628-4111 www.LifeScienceProductos.com I just spoke to someone at Life Science and she told me that their product is soil based pro-biotics and it does NOT contain any pesticides or metals, because it is grown in a controlled environment and with a very special organic soil free of radicals. IMO their both very good for my son and I would think that PD is also grown in a controlled environment.. Note: My son has allergy to Saccharomyces boulardii, and will have a sever stomach-ache and change in behavior if given SBC by itself, but he has no problem taking the Primal Defense. I believe it's contains a smaller amount of sbc and it does not bother him so much.
