I'm new here and just went to a new doc yesterday and he prescribed 4

mg ldn for me. I have been reading a little about this and it seems

that he should have started me at a lower dose but the script that I

received are capsules so I can't really do much unless I break the

capsule apart and split the powder if that's possible.

Anyway, I am taking 1 1/4 grains armour and 25 mcg cytomel, is it ok

to take the 4 mg ldn or should I call my doctor back and have him give

me a lower dose? I just took one capsule last night and I feel fine

today even though I didn't sleep well last night.

I just don't want to make anything worse, I thought that I could lower

the thyroid meds but i want to do this right.

Thanks,

Ridley

Hi Sue,

Well I'm glad your doctor was receptive to your trying LDN. I think I

would call your doctor's office and explain that you've since heard

that having the OPTION to start at lower dose for a couple / few weeks

has been recommended from other thyroid folk.

The second time I started LDN I asked my doctor to prescribe in 1.5mg

doses. So now that I'm at a 3mg dose, I get 60 1.5mg capsules

compounded. I like having the option to be able to take a lower dose

if I feel I need to.

I would keep the prescription you currently have and ask if you can

another prescription for a lower dose 1.5mg for 90 days. I would

start with 1.5mg for 30days...then move up to 3mg for 30days...and

then after that you can take your 4.5mg prescription...if you think

you're ready to.

Best wishes...

Jann

BTW: If you haven't already...come visit www.ahsta.com It's where

other autoimmune thyroid folk are sharing their experiences.
