Guest guest
My 20/m old son just started DMSA last week. He did great on the 3 days on. The first day off was good also just a bit clingy. I have been real diligent about his supplements but on the 2nd day off he started to really stimm visually and it has been getting better when I had just been doing his supplements before starting. Then he started squinting and really rubbing pushing on his eyes. Never saw this before. A few people said it could be calcium. His hair test showed very low calcium but I know that doesn't mean much. I want to up his calcium but am afraid if its not the calcium, he will get too much. Guest guest
http://www.directlabs.com/triad.php This one looks interesting….if you are up for a blood draw. For the little guy we only do testing using urine, but now this is something I could consider for myself. If you just want a general test for essential elements just do “essential and toxic elements” test or it may be called something else on DD Chris _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of anneecbrynn Sent: Friday, January 04, 2008 8:37 PM Subject: [ ] Re: anyone know a test > > Does anyone know if direct labs has a test that is accurate for > minerals/vitamins for a mercury toxic child? > I haven't heard of one, though I am interested to see if others have. Guest guest
Some of the eye stuff for us is definitely yeast. Even if you had a decent protocol in place before the round, chelation may have kicked up enough yeast to make a difference. Is that something to consider? Have you looked to see what Andy says low calcium in the hair means? You might consider putting in some of the basics from the Vitamin K protocol at low doses. One of the main goals of that protocol is to help regulate calcium. Many of our kids have calcium disregulation problems. In the short term, if it were me, I would definitely give some supplemental calcium while chelating, especially if using DMSA. Lead stores in the bones, and as you pull it out, you want to give yourself the best shot of replacing the removed lead with calcium. You might give small amounts often throughout the day for a little while to see if you can't work up to a comfortable and effective place for you and your son. Guest guest
Nutrient & Toxic Elements DLS Price $249 Retail $333 You Save $82 Erythrocyte element levels are good indicators of body pools of essential elements as well as the toxic elements aluminum, arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury. The Metametrix Nutrient and Toxic Elements Profile is an especially accurate way of determining whole body status of potassium and selenium. The importance of calcium and phosphorus to bone formation and the electrolyte role of sodium and potassium are commonly understood. Magnesium is involved in over 300 chemical reactions in the body, including all ATP transformations and therefore all cellular energy production. Depletion from food sources has resulted in a near epidemic of magnesium insufficiency. Selenium is required by the enzyme glutathione peroxidase, which maintains the oxidative balance in all tissue. Low selenium, therefore, can directly influence an individual's antioxidant protection. Chromium and manganese are especially important in insulin insensitivity and Metabolic Syndrome. Zinc deficiency has been implicated in a variety of disorders, including sexual impotence, retarded growth, hair loss, and immune system depression. Because of rapid depletion of all elements, erythrocyte analysis should be standard protocol before and throughout chelation therapy. Nutrient element analysis is critical for identifying both the need for and monitoring the adequacy of either oral or IV supplementation. This is a serum test and a complementary Comprehensive Metabolic Panel is included for the blood draw. Click here for sample report Lab: Metametrix Was wondering if this might work. Its a blood test?? Guest guest
Thank you : ) I think I will up it a little tommorow. I did give him a bit more with his fourth dose today. I have Kirkmans liquid so I put it in his juice or formula four times a day with his milk thistle. I also have been supplementing biotin and probiotics to keep yeast at bay. You could be right though. I still havn't gotten Andy's book so I havn't read the calcium information : ( I need to order it soon. Looking forward to reading it. I was planning on 2nd round DMSA and adding ALA tommorrow as he will be off 5 days. Not sure now, but I suppose its worse if I dont keep going. Guest guest
If anything, you might just hold at DMSA for this next round, if only to make sure you don't confuse the issue too much. Biotin and probiotics are not enough in my house. It seems to me that a kid has to be pretty high functioning, or pretty intolerant, or at a pretty good place, to just need those. Have you tried OOO or GSE, or one of those to see if it does anything? Guest guest
OOO - Oil of Oregano We use GSE - I wasn't aware it was harsh. We use the liquid and always dilute, it doesn't take much. P. Guest guest
http://www.holisticheal.com/store/home.php?cat=117 We order our tests through here and both are urine and test what you are looking for if you don't want to draw blood. MAP and UTEE, I think you can call the office and you can order through Dr. Yasko and not really be a patient of hers but I am not sure she will personally comment on it if you have not done genetics but both will tell you about the essential elements you are looking at. MAP is just more comprehensive. At any rate the lab does a really nice write up and those comments are very easy to understand and they use Doctors Data. Amino Acids (UAA) is nice to have as well. We do the UTEE once a month just to keep track of minerals and metals excretion. The others we just do twice a year to tweak our supplements. One of my favorite test is an OAT (urine organic acids). Although it does not test directly for minerals/vitamins, you can deduct them from the markers. It is this one: http://www.directlabs.com/testtypes.php#organic http://www.directlabs.com/PDFfiles/SampleOrganix.pdf http://www.metametrix.com/DirectoryOfServices/pdf/pdf_guide_0091OrganixComprehen\ sive-Urine.pdf It is also 80% covered by my medical insurance. Guest guest
Thanks so much to everyone who helped on this question. It was sooo helpful and I dont feel quite so lost anymore. I was thinking how the minerals are not accurate from the hair test so how does one know if a child is high in copper? His hair test placed copper pretty much in the middle, but that means nothing if I am correct? Thank thankthank you all for your help very much [ ] Re: anyone know a test > > If anything, you might just hold at DMSA for this > next round, if > only to make sure you don't confuse the issue too > much. > > Biotin and probiotics are not enough in my house. Guest guest
Hello, My uncle know a man very well at this lab and my uncle has been helping with researching treatments for my son. I had this test ran that is a mineral assay and toxic metals done from the hair from the nap of the neck. One problem is his results are very different than other labs like this labs proper result for calcium is 40. So you would not be able to compare the result to other test - I have my son second hair sample ready to go to the lab so I can compare the to tests. The one really nice thing is the cost $65. So I guess I am happy with the results compared to the cost and found the report easy to read. I got the diet plan done for $30 but I am going to skip that this time. The lab can be found at www.arltma.com . Analytical ressearch labs, inc. 602 995-1580 I called the lab they sent me a kit and I did the hair cut - I am not sure if they want a doctors following the results or not since my uncle set it up. I was happy with this. I hope this helps you. My 2 cents Ann > > Does anyone know if direct labs has a test that is accurate for > minerals/vitamins for a mercury toxic child? >
