MB,

Can you cut the patch down? I know you can with nicotine patches so wondering if

that's possible with these.

Also, if you're comfortable sharing, are there any side effects like with the

oral Ritalin such as decreased appetite, etc, other than the sleep issues?

I'm at a loss to figure out how the Ritalin can create a phenolic reaction.

I suspect an allergy, too, but was surprised he didn't muscle test weak to it.

It's been 6 weeks since we have had them on the patch. Other than some sleep

issues (which are fairly minor) the patches have worked great. It just looks

like a classic phenol reaction.

You can cut the patches down. That is another aspect of them that I like better

than oral. If I want to control the timing of the meds I can take the patch off

to begin its timing out. In one of my twins the lack of appetite is greater than

the other. Neither want to eat much for lunch. They used to ask to eat

frequently where now I have to suggest and encourage it. I figured that would be

a trade off if we saw better behaviors. There is still a rebound period in the

evening but as I recall it isn't as bad as when my older son took the oral rx.

Certainly no med is without side effects. There is also a slight red irritation

at the site of the patch after removal. One twin complains that it itches but he

has always been skin sensitive. We are doing NAET and cranial sacral, too. I

think these have really helped calm their nervous systems.

I think we will stick with them until school is out. I hope to resume some

chelating this summer as I don't want to interrupt a good thing right now in the

classroom. It is always such a tenous balancing game!
