Guest guest
Thanks for reviewing my son's hair test results. Sorry you had trouble finding the results, it should be under testpage1.jpg hair test results in the files section. A friend put them on for me, I am not technical. To address some of your questions: Hair test: Dave concurred with you, that the test did not meet the counting rules. Yes, I am supplementing with many things, so a hair test say pre supplements over a half a year ago, may have shown more of the true story. Urine Porphyrin: The Metametrix porphyrin test interpretation did state that he had elevated markers for lead and arsenic, but not mercury. Although, Dave did not that at least on one of the markers designated " high " , the actual number was not outside the reference range, so I don't know what to make of this. Does it pay to redo this test? Blood test: His latest blood test does show very low levels of lead, we are trying to address some possible exposures for lead in his environment. Background: We live a highly polluted state, NJ, with the dubious distinction of having the highest amount of heavy metals in the air of any state, so the news reports. My son is on the spectrum, PDD-NOS, he is fairly high functioning. He had 30 shots from birth to age 18 months, including mercury containing flu shots. He regressed after receiving Hep A at age one, newly approved by the CDC for one year olds, not mercury containing, but had formaldehyde and host of other scary things in it. He had a violent reaction to it. I got the flu shot while pregnant and received 2 antibiotics, and had 5 ultra sounds in the first trimester. We have a family history of food allergies and autoimmune disorders... His last exposure to mercury was probably his flu shot 1 1/2 years ago, a flu shot. As to abnormalities in the hair test: Copper: Dave and my DAN who has a copy of the test noted that copper is very high. I give my son almond milk and he eats a lot of nut butters as a protein source. High copper foods I now know. I am stopping this. I already supplement with 20mg of zinc broken up into 3 times a day, and he gets milk thistle and other liver supportive herbs, which he gets three or four times a day. He gets about 100mcg of molybdenum per day, does he need more of this? and if so, is there any side effect of supplementation with this? Adrenal issues: Dave raised that same point about low adrenaline but did not know what was done for kids. I forwarded the test to my DAN who was receptive to it, we are supposed to discuss the adrenal issue next week. What is adrenal cortex extract? What are the " natural " remedies you reference? Are they safe for kids? As to his temperature, if anything, he tends to run on the high side most of the time, especially in the am, so I do not know about the thyroid issue. He is always very warm. Where would I get this saliva cortisol test? How is the test done? What does it tell you? Would appreciate it if you could answer these questions for me. Thanks. Guest guest
Natural things I do for my adrenals: Sea salt (I use Celtic Sea Salt. You can google it or see my website for a link to it: www.healthgazelle.com) Wild Yam extract (pill form) or eating wild yams. Lysine. When I can afford it, a product called " Plus " from Mannatech. Coconut oil helps support the thyroid. I have been told that when the adrenals are run ragged for a long time, it eventually effects the thyroid. I have found that I need to take both thyroid support and adrenal support when I am run down and my adrenals are stressed. I take coconut oil and sea salt regularly anyway but I take more of these, plus some other things (like wild yam and lysine) when I need the extra support. Good luck.
