Yes it is difficult to stand by and watch someone you love and care for wither away and die through their own choices. We all get to experience this. I am going through pretty much the same thing with my father right now. For someone who could not stand doctors he is happily allowing them to medicate him to death. But then his choices in dietary habits are what got him into that position in the first place. All you can ever do is offer to help another. It is their choice to accept or not as they see fit. Don't allow yourself to fall into guilt or anything negative like that. It has no place in your life. Just realize that everything is as it should be. Your mother is walking the path she chose. She chose it for a reason that only she can know and understand. Be content that she had the courage to walk it and follow it to the end. The most you can do for her right now is pray and love her. Everybody's path is difficult and fraught with danger, road blocks and detours. We can't judge another as we don't walk their path. All we can do is show them compassion, love and do our utmost to understand their choices. Find peace within your own heart Bev, do that and you will find peace with those around you.
