Question about immune system and MS

My German Shepherd dog, 7 1/2 years old, has degenerative myelopathy--

the canine version of human MS. MS is a condition where the immune

system attacks the central nervous system. LDN is known to boost the

immune system. I am a little confused by this, as it sounds like LDN

is helping the immune system cause more damage. I have found

conflicting information on the internet as to whether to give this to

my dog or not. Many have sais it has helped stop progression of the

disease. But some have said it could make it worse--and to stop after

I have given it to him--the damage would be irreversible. Thanks for
