XRF lead testing

I found a local fellow (Atlanta) who tests daycare centers for lead using the

Innov-x XRF gun.

He will come to your house and test your toys, dinnerware, furniture, etc. for

$149 an hour.

He said figure 2-3 hours, depending on how much stuff you have. And he suggested

grouping small items together, so he can move from one to the next quickly. He

also said

colors make a difference: blue, black and white items rarely contain lead;

yellow, red, orange,

green and browns are suspect.

E-mail me off-line and I will give you his phone number if you are interested.

My son tests high in lead and we just started chelation. So, I want an accurate

picture of my

home's toxiicity, so I can clean it up. So I looked into renting an XRF gun and

sharing the

unit/cost with other local ASD families. I found 2 companies in TX and CA who

rent out the

units...but shipping and insurance (units are $30,000) back and forth was going

to cost $500

+.

For folks in other areas, contact the manufacturer [http://www.innovxsys.com/]

and ask who

they have sold the XRF to in your area. That's how I found this guy. The recent

" lead in

crockpot " article spurred me to action.
