I think yeast is masking the improvements. Sometimes it takes longer to

show. But IMO if the

chelators are making him yeasty, then that's a side effect, and you won't

get side effects if

there are no metals...so hang in there! Consider choosing another point,

like 15 rounds? and

re-evaluate.

Hi,

I certainly understand your hesitance toward IV EDTA, however, we

tried the DMSA to no avail. Then we went to the IV EDTA and after a

couple of months our 4.5 year old son started putting sentences

together and asking a few questions...

ALA is what chelates mercury out of the brain so I would say give it more time.

Every child is different and 2 rounds using ALA is probably not enough to show

gains. Plus I myself believe the brain needs to heal. It sounds like he is doing

fine on the dosage but more isn't necessarily better or faster. If he is about 32

lbs you are giving 1/4 mg per pound I would stick with that for a while and not

up it. JMO : )

Steve,

Thank you for sharing your experience and I am really happy that your son is

doing well. IV chelation does scare me however I will never rule it out. I

will continue with oral DMSA / ALA and hope for the best.

Thank you everyone. The yeast is definitely winning right now. I will continue

on with chelation and hopefully soon I will be posting with great news.

Are you treating the yeast?? This may interfere with progress.

Yes, I am trying my best. I have to admit I am still not certain on what

supplements to give and how much.

Currently I am giving my son 1packet of threelac in the morning, biotin about

300 mcg, probiotics and about 2 drops of GSE a day for two days and then off.

Hi everyone,

We have done 7 rounds of chelation with our son. The first 5 with just DMSA

and the last 2 rounds with DMSA / ALA. I started my son on 3.5 mg of DMSA then

increased to 5 and for the last 3 rounds he has been at 8 mgs. He has done well

We have not seen any gains yet. I don't know if its too soon to see any

positives? I have a friend who saw gains on the 2nd round..... I have also read

of parents seeing gains right away. My son will be 3 yrs old in a couple of

months and I was hoping to get him a little bit better before he starts

preschool. He is non-verbal. My greatest fear is sending him to school when he

can't tell me what is happening to him.

Is it to soon for us to see gains? His father keeps asking me if I know what I

am doing. He of course wants to do the IV chelation challenge test that our DAN

has recommended but I totally refuse to do it. I am just trying to stay positive

and on track even though I wonder sometimes if it will ever work for my son.

'My greatest fear is sending him to school when he can't tell me what is

happening to him.'

I just finished an email to a friend where I told them of how I did my own

ABA educational program for my daughter when she was little with teen tutors

from our church. I had no idea that what we were doing in our basement school

room was so much more beneficial than anything she would get in the public

school. I wish we had just kept going instead of interrupting her education by

sending her to school. LOL I feel like we wasted 6 years in our inadequate

school

system in this area. We now homeschool. If you are worried about sending

your child to school and out from under your personal supervision...a home ABA

program is a fabulous way to start homeschooling. If you don't want to

homeschool long term, you can do so until your child has communication skills.

I

don't ever want it to happen to another parent where the first full complete

sentence or original communication they hear from their child is what I heard

which was " Miss....... ........ hit .............me " upon picking her up at

school. I am so thankful that my daughter had some communication ability.

Before that time she could only do command communications like I want milk or I

want juice and she could answer questions I had drilled her about. But that

day she struggled but got out every word of the above shocker.

I know. I am seriously thinking about waiting a little longer before sending

him to school. I hope he will start to communicate soon.

Thanks .

I saw gains in my son at about the 10th round of ALA. Most of my

son's gains were caused by supplements tho, altho he did not tolerate

most supplements until chelation, so the ALA was a required first step

for him to tolerate the supps he needed for recovery. ALA did

eliminate most of his food issues also.

Try giving the biotin every day, 1mg. See if that helps. Most kids

seem to need 5-10mg per day. My son needed more.

Hi Dana,

Ok, since we have only done 2 rounds of ALA I am going to continue and see

where we are by the 10th round of ALA. I am using biotin (Solgar) it does

always dissolve well but hopefully its helping.

I am going to add Lysine as well but should I wait until we have the yeast

under control?

At my house, lysine caused massive yeast [and massive improvements],

so yes, you might want to wait until you figure out what works best

for your child to control yeast before adding it.
