Thanks Andy. Just one more question, this time to confirm about dosing

for a 40 lb child.

I've read a few past posts of Andy's recommending " several " 250 mg

capsule per day for a 40lb child. Can others confirm the quantity that

worked for their children -- should I count on giving 3 capsules per

day or 6 per day? Is the dosing based on weight or on the severity of

the fatigue?

I would like to get an estimate of the # of pills required daily so

that I can have my next visitor bring me enough to last a few months.

I can't have ACE shipped directly here so I rely on visitors to bring

it and replacing it when I run out takes time!

Thanks again,

We use anywhere from 3 to 6 per day, depending on what seems to be

going on. When we go under 3, it seems to be a problem. I have my

son on armour, too, so that may mean we need a bit more than others.

Stupid question, how do you know whether or not you need Adrenal cortex?

The hair test will show whether there are any adrenal issues. Andy's

HTI book talks about it in pages 112-114.

Sometimes the hair test shows the " adrenal sign " with Ca and Mg

moving together in one direction and Na and K moving together

in the other direction.

Sometimes this doesn't show up on the hair test, but if the

child is anxious, thin, stress intolerant, those would be good

indications to try it.

Check here for some other indications:

, do you know if ACE will help eventually with weight gain?

Or are other supplements needed along with ACE for this?

Does anyone know if adrenal stress can cause recurring low grade

fevers/infections? I vaguely remember seeing someone write about this

somewhere but now I cannot find the post with that information.

I think that my NT son also has adrenal stress according to Dr Rind's

symptom matrix. He's got a LOT of the symptoms on the matrix but he's

also had 3 unexplained bouts of low grade fever in the last 2 months.

Along with all the other symptoms, he's also had very odd chapped lips

a few times with just the contours of the lips get very red & dry -

does anyone know what that's about?

quick thought about the red lips - off the top of my head, would look

into riboflavin connections and/or fatty acid connections...pretty

sure viral issues are involved, but are connected to the

riboflavin/fatty acid stuff...

The ACE does not cause any illness symptoms for my daughter nor did

the indicators of worn out adrenals. She is in the 'never sick'

category, however. Long ago, I got feedback from a parent that

the 'clown lips' for her child usually meant a bacterial illness.

We've gone through those many times; also periods when my daughter

seems 'ill' but no overt symptoms like fever, malaise etc. On 3

occasions I've had a crp done through direct labs. Each time it was

elevated indicating a generalized inflammation. A recent strep anti-

Dnase for my daughter was 4x nl elevated so I'm wondering if the

silent strep is related to it the clown lips and the elevated crp.

It would depend on what is interfering with weight gain to begin

with and this will be individual. Adrenal problems can be involved,

as can thyroid problems, gut bugs, and various types of digestive

dysfunction. There are probably other factors, too.

Digestive enzymes are often helpful, things that supplement or

support stomach acid levels might be needed, probiotics can

improve digestive function, those are just a few possibilities.

These are some good starting points to consider.

Adrenal stress can be one factor. Thyroid problems, dysfunctional

immune system can contribute, and I'm sure there are other factors.

Posting about specific symptoms can be helpful to elicit more

targeted suggestions about what might be going on and what

might help.

You might search archives regarding lips, chapped lips, red lips,

or other phrase. I know this topic has been discussed before.

Red lips are also a classic sign of mercury toxicity - one of the

reasons childhood mercurialism is known as " Pink Disease " .
