You must be exact on you measurements when making hard soaps or liquid soaps. Otherwise you will end up with a mess. There is very little room for error in the soap making process. Yes, she was referring to ounces. All fats and oils, water and lye are done by weight, not solid and liquid weights but just weight. The better the scale you use the better your measurements and results will be. -- Peace, love and light, Don " Quai " Eitner " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man. Guest guest
Hi TerriLynne - Ounces in weight on the soap. It is an exact thing - but if you've got a good little scale, it's very easy. I bought a little postal digital scale at Office Max that weighs up to 5# for about $30. For any lotion or soap recipe when they talk about the ounces, it is the weight in ounces. I didn't know that yeaaaaaaaaaaars ago when I made my first batch. LOL!!!! I used the volume and it has a totally different outcome. )) It was a long time before I tried making soap again. Trust me - if I can do this, you can also. >) Hi Becky, On the lye and the water, are you referring to ounces? And, if so, how are you measuring things like 9.3 ounces? It sounds pretty exacting.
