Guest guest
LDN keeps my severe eczema under control, but last March, while still on LDN I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic that caused hives and a long-lasting itchy rash. Since then I've continued to break out in an itchy rash every time I eat a food I'm allergic to (which includes almost everything). The LDN hasn't seemed to help, nor have both homeopathic and standard antihistamines plus stomach acid reducers (Tagamet), which are also supposed to block histamine production. I added two leukotriene inhibitors last week (Singulair and butterbur herb), and that's helped but only a little. Of course I'm trying to avoid any food I'm allergic too but I'm still discovering more that weren't tested. A poster on this list yesterday said his doctor had started him (excuse me if I should say her, I read it quickly!) on digestive enzymes on the theory that leaky gut was causing all foods to cause the body to react. That sounds like a very valid theory and I appreciate the person posting the info. I started taking digestive enzymes yesterday and I'm already itching less. I was curious what role the LDN plays since the problem, which I've never had before, started after I'd been on LDN for 4 months and hasn't been affected. Hard to tell if the body is working harder to demonstrate what bothers it or if my urticaria is a problem the LDN doesn't affect. But so far I would second the recommendation to try digestive enzymes and maybe a probiotic as well--it should improve health generally and may solve this problem. Best wishes, B., Graves' disease, eczema, and many allergies
Guest guest
I would just like to also chime in here on enzymes. I believe that enzymes have also played a significant role in my daughter's return to health. Taking enzymes, along with the LDN before she goes to sleep, and staying away from offending foods (egg whites, soy, gluten and yeast - I recc. Enterolabs for testing) has turned this very sick 20 year old into an active and very happy person. Most days, my daughrter takes her 'Ask me about LDN " canvas bag with her when she's out - and enjoys telling others about LDN and what it's done for her! I think that we are all very unique and we all must find what works uniquely for us - but would certainly reccomend to everyone to try digestive enzymes - as we have found them so valuable! BTW my daughter " had " ulcerative colitis crohns - which doesn't seem to be around any more!! The enzymes that she uses are called Vital-Zymes by Klaire Labs - they are the ones that Dr. McCandless reccomends. I wish you ALL the Best, ette [low dose naltrexone] Re: hives and angioedema--digestive enzymes  LDN keeps my severe eczema under control, but last March, while still on LDN I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic that caused hives and a long-lasting itchy rash. Guest guest
Hi , I’m the one who posted about trying the enzymes. I’m glad you think they might help you, too. I also suggest you try L-Glutamine for healing the gut, and that you check out if you have a candida problem. Candida drills the holes in the gut that cause leaky gut, and this allows the proteins from the food you eat to escape into the bloodstream and trigger the allergic reactions. If you have Candida, you also need to treat that if you have any hope of getting those allergies to settle down. Guest guest
Well I tried LDN for one week. I felt soo good, and it helped w/ my appetite. One the 7th day today I flared out bigtime. My legs are covered w/ large hives. I usually take a small dose of pred. everyday. I thought ldn would " modulate " my immune system. I hate to stop but it is making me worse. Thanks Ann A > > I would just like to also chime in here on enzymes. I believe that > enzymes have also played a significant role in my daughter's return to > health.
