Guest guest
My sister and her husband are some what concerned that their child born in Oct 06 ( she is almost 15 months) can only verbalize maybe three words. (ma, da and one other word) Their daughter can point and definately understands the world around her. My sister says she is not too concerned and is not ready to check into things but her husband feels differently. My oldest sister has a child diagnosed with autism. He is doing very well in Junior High and does not appear autistic due to early inteventions that his mother gave. Very little biomedical interventions were given. He was diagnosed in early 90's. My daughter was diagnosed PDD-NOS Aug 05 and is doing wonderful. I consider her recovered. She has had intensive biomedical interventions. All sisters live far apart and are not very connected. I am looking for a check list for apraxia that I might share that might indicate whether my sister with the 15 month old should see an SLP. If it was me I would be right in but I think they are scared and are focusing on everything the child can do. If she should be concerned, I am looking for a gentle nudge. This family is fragile and information needs to be focused on what can be done. Thanks, Melinda
