Guest guest
My doctor wants to run a blood test and stool sample to determine if my 5 year old has an ulcer. She thought we could go this route before we see a GI doctor. Has anyone had any luck with this type of test? My daughter complains of her stomach almost everyday. We are GFCF and that has not helped at all. Sheila
Guest guest
My Mom had the Hpylori blood test a few years ago and found it confirmed that she had it after being on Tagmet for 15 yrs. I had a biopsy 10yrs ago where they took a sample from my tummy through my esophagus to confirm that I had Hpylori. I was on Tagmet for 2 years in my 20's and told it was my temperament that caused my ulcer. When I took the antibiotic treatment to kill hpylori, I felt hundred times better and no more tagmet. So like the medical establishment to blame it on the victim (my temperament = ulcer)when they don't know the cure... Blood test sounds great and well worth your time. > > My doctor wants to run a blood test and stool sample to determine if my > 5 year old has an ulcer. Guest guest
The test for HPylori is a simple " breath " test. You drink a liquid. Then you breathe into and fill up a bag. It is sent to the lab. As far as I know, there are no blood tests for ulcers. The other thing to do would be scopes - either down the throat - or up the bottom end to look at stomach and intestines. I'm curious as to how blood or stool samples would show an ulcer?? My son has Crohn's disease. He's had stomach and other pain since he was about 6 or 7. Not fun. Best wishes. -- In , " thedyes " <threebabygirs@...> wrote: > > My doctor wants to run a blood test and stool sample to determine if my > 5 year old has an ulcer. Guest guest
There are several tests for H pylori. The breath test is supposed to be the most accurate but personally I'd avoid it, as it involves drinking a radioactive solution. They'll tell you it's safe of course. What does that remind you of? There's also a blood test and a stool antigen test for H pylori. Dean [ ] Re: Anyone have a Hpylori blood test for ulcer? The test for HPylori is a simple " breath " test. You drink a liquid. Guest guest
The one we did was GI Effects by Metametrix, which also tests for other gut bugs. It is a stool test and uses PCR (DNA) testing to find the critters. > > There are several tests for H pylori.
