Guest guest
~ The oil you have is probably a fragrance oil and just that. You would use it in soap or toiletries as you would any other fragrance oil. You would never use true Jamine oil as a base oil for soapmaking. Guest guest
HUM...we know its not essential Oils at that price...and as far as I know, Jasmine does not produce a vegetable type oil...so what you msut have is either jasmine EO in a base carrier or a parfumed oil...without knowing what the base oil is...it would be hard to even attempt to guess at any sap. value......What I would do is add an ounce per lbs of oil to any base soap recipe...without modifying my lye content...at worse you have superfatted soap and the jasmine scent should still come out of the soap... Let me know what you do...I'm curious of the output... Jasmine oil From: rb.rosielle@... Ok Ladies, all you experienced soapers out there. I need some advice. I have bought some Jasmine oil, 500 ml, or almost 18 ounces of it, for very very cheap, like for under $6.00.

It does not say what is in it other than Jasmine oil, it does not say it is infused, only that is is for external use only. It smells wonderful,it is a >medium yellow in color, but what do I do with it, I checked the lye calculator and it is not listed there. I have never heard of jasmine oil as a carrier oil - only as an essential oil, and at the price you paid, it's NOT that. If anything, it's a fragrance oil and would be used for scenting, not as a base oil. But the price you paid is still suspicious, even for an FO, if you paid " regular price " and didn't get a really good deal from a friend or something. Guest guest
Hi, India produces a 'Jasmine oil' which Indian ladies use on their hair. I bought some the other day out of curiosity - figuring at *best*, it was an infused oil, at medium, I could use it in a cheap body lotion (not wanting to saponify it, for the reason you mention) and at *worst* --- I could give it away to someone who isn't so choosy! I think it's almond oil (or similar) with fo. It doesn't smell as bad as some fake oils (sorry, not mincing my words!) but it doesn't smell like diluted jasmine absolute to me. Maybe yours is similar? Do you have enough experience of jasmine abs to have formed an opinion about whether it is a diluted oil or not? And where does it come from (I don't mean the shop, but the country of origin.) Gwen

Guest guest
I do use jasmine, and it is a wonderful essential oil...costly, yes, but I use only a very tiny amount in certain products that I make. I have used it it special face creams, and in making perfumes. Can't afford to buy much at a time, darn it...but I love it. blessings, Patty
