She brought up the fact that Dr. Wakefield is starting a center here and I told her I knew that. She said she met with him when he was here for the conference and that he came to their office there. I can't quote her verbatim, as we jumped around a lot in our conversation. She has not made a judgment yet about his work, though she intimated that she and her colleagues are skeptical because of some of the labs and he won't share information or something like that. I told her it might be because he feels betrayed by his profession and that he lost everything for what he believes is true. She didn't disagree with that. The interesting thing is that sadly for her she has a child with Down Syndrome with autistic symptoms. She asked a lot of questions of me, including school issues, PECS, etc. She said they really don't know enough yet about the subset of kids with autism and bowel issues. Tristan had the chronic diarrhea with no formed stools before starting the GFCF diet. Now he has severe constipation. She said usually the chronic diarrhea is Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
