Guest guest
Now she's feeling sick, like she needs to throw up. She's laying on the couch under blankets feeling ill. I doubt I'll get anymore into her today now anyway, but I wonder if the round should even be continued for her? Is this a " normal " reaction? Someone please let me know quickly please... Guest guest
Has she been on DMSA at all, or is this her first ever dose of a chelator. If so, I believe the first couple of doses could make a child feel a bit ill. I would give her plenty to drink and something light to eat and see how she feels when you get to the next dose. I wouldnt personally give up so soon but go with your gut instinct. I dont know if this is fact or not but I did read on the ARI websight that the first few doses of DMSA DO actually pull some minerals. Maybe its the same with ALA. Also did she eat before the dose? Guest guest
No DMSA or anything else; first chelator ever. Just 1 dose ALA (appx 12mg). Not giving up, but if she's this ill, not sure should continue. Also, if she's sick, she won't eat or drink anything. She had a sip of water, but now is sleeping. She had the ALA in her juice cup with her other supps this morning, while eating breakfast. That's typically the way we do supps here (the only way I can with some of the kids). Guest guest
I do the same with mine. I have only done 3 rounds with my 20/m old son so I am not an expert but I do think the first few doses, even though small, can probably make a child feel a bit ill. My son didnt react that way, but he had 4 bowel movements in the first 24 hrs ...Does she have other toxic metal problems besides mercury? Also try to give her some of her minerals in between rounds if you get there : ) I know Dana did this. [ ] Re: 1st day round 1 ALA - cold & not herself No DMSA or anything else; first chelator ever. Guest guest
How much dose your daughter weigh? Maybe 12.5 was too much to start her with.I would try to continue the round if possible. Guest guest
How much does she weigh? My dd was 4 1/4 when we started and we began with a dose of 7 mg ALA, then dropped it down to 5 mg for the next round because the side effects were too much. The first few rounds can be tough if you start with a dose that is too high. It does get a lot better though. Now at 71 rounds mine is up to 20 mg ALA and does fine with that, it just takes some time and increasing the dose in very small increments. Good luck! Guest guest
I think I would probably stop and let her recover until the next round. Maybe next time lower the dose. I give my son DMSA only. I have noticed at times him feeling a little warmer than usual but he's never lethargic. Guest guest
I probably would, especially if she's feverish. You could make that determination on how she feels when it is time for her next dose. It may just be coincidence and that she's coming down with something at the same time you started the ALA, but if it were my child I would start her next round at a much lower dose like 5 mg. If she does fine with that you can move it up a bit. It's good to be very conservative in the beginning until you see how they will react to the ALA. I hope she feels better and do let us know. Guest guest
This is what it says in the A-M FAQ's Q: I've started chelating and my child is having bad side effects. What can I do? Some side effects that list members have reported include increased urination, redness of the face and extremities, rash, heartburn, and diarrhea. Your child may also show an increase in autistic symptoms (may become more " stimmy " or show more oppositional behavior). If the side effects are severe or difficult to deal with, stop the cycle and allow a rest time, then start the next cycle with a lower dosage. You may also want to try a shorter chelation cycle, with a larger rest period in between Amy > > > > > > > > > > > > My 5-1/2 dd had ALA for the first time this morning (appx > > > 12mg). > > > > > She > > > > > > is very, very cold & needed socks, slippers & a sweater. > She > > > also > > > > > > seems lethargic & out of sorts. > > > > > > > > > > > > Normal??? > > > > > > > > > > > > Please advise! > > > > > > > > > > > > Thanks, Michele > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _ > > > > ____________ __ > > > > > Be a better friend, newshound, and > > > > > know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
I wonder if you have a yeast protocol in place. The cold hands and feet can be due to Hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia can be caused by arabinose, a yeast metabolite. I would make sure a yeast protocol is in place before the next round. For now, I would give her some juice or some sort of sugar. Guest guest
Hi , I've never heard that. to my knowledge. One dose of ALA ?? so. she may be already have been coming down with a bug or germie? For my kids, I'd stop the round, snuggle her up , let her sleep and get lot of fluids in her etc.. Sorry to hear she sick, hope she feels better soon, A
Guest guest
The symptoms sound very adrenal. Chelation is stress and can make adrenal problems more apparent (happened to me when I started). Her hair test is very suggestive of adrenal problems and that pattern usually means there are thyroid problems, too. ACE and licorice are good for the adrenal part. I agree with others about reducing the dose next time. When her stomach is feeling better, getting some vitamin C and B5 into her might help both with the adrenal part and with redistribution. For the other kids, I would not change their dose mid-round. If they seem okay, stick with it. -- > > My 5-1/2 dd had ALA for the first time this morning (appx 12mg). Guest guest
Thanks; I don't think so as everyone else is fine & she was fine up until that one dose this morning.I noticed her go downhill pretty quickly after breakfast (after she finished her supps). I'll start over next round with a lower dose & hope/pray things go better. Michele > > > > Hi , I've never heard that. to my knowledge. Guest guest
I already lowered it for my 2yo, but he still seems fine. Maybe I should discuss the adrenal/thyroid issues before starting chelation again? I don't think I can get her to give blood (well we'd have to force it). She's also tough to get things into, so I have to pick & choose for supplements carefully. THanks, Michele > > > > My 5-1/2 dd had ALA for the first time this morning (appx 12mg).
