Guest guest
I have read that eating edible clay can help w/ pica. You can find more information here: http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/clay.htm Nita > > > > Hello all! > > > > My daughter, so far NT, but so young, who knows yet, is CRAVING > > paper!! Guest guest
Also, zinc. It is known that Lead kids have pica and this can be reduced or helped with zinc supplementation. I was able to get my child to stop chewing and eating non food items with zinc. Eating paper...probably looking for gluten sources. > > > > > > Hello all! > > > > > > My daughter, so far NT, but so young, who knows yet, is CRAVING > > > paper!! >

Guest guest
Our DAN! started us on 15-20 mg of zinc picolinate per day in my son who has pica. He eats soap, bath fizzies, shampoo, bubble bath, hand soap, toothpaste, crayons, wood chips, dirt, rocks, toys... Guest guest
Wow, I didn't even think about the gluten factor! That might be it. I'm nursing her and trying to stay away from gluten myself (older son is HUGELY affected by gluten), but sometimes I slip. She is gluten-free except for that. She might be having withdraw symptoms from the gluten in my milk. I'll watch that closer and try upping the zinc, for her and me. That is a good idea. Thanks again to all of my posting-buddies!! Speaking of thankfulness! I don't know where we would be without the support and knowledge of all of you. Blaire
Guest guest
How much zinc and how often. My son is chewing on plastic, string and just started swallowing it. I am not sure if the swallowing is an accident because he always chews on something. He is also ripping his clothes. Thanks, nne > > > > > > > > Hello all! > > > > > > > > My daughter, so far NT, but so young, who knows yet, is CRAVING > > > > paper!! > > >
Guest guest
I don't know if this has been posted but I have read that Pica/eating paper is associated with iron deficiency / anemia.
Guest guest
Up to weight plus 20 mgs per day, divided into 3 doses. You should probably start lower, since too much zinc can mean nausea/vomiting. Try zinc picolinate, it is very absorbable. It worked wonders for my son for pica/pica-like issues. For some kids, zinc supplementation does eliminate this problem. For my #3, it was caused by food intolerance and yeast overgrowth.
