Guest guest
I was reading some of the older thread on this forum and what I see is that mostly with high level of Copper you have low level of zinc. In my son's case, both copper and zinc levels are high .... can someone please tell what does it mean? Thank you! > > Hello everyone, > > I had Urine test done on my 3.5 year old Son. Guest guest
I don't know that urinary copper is a good indicator of what is going on. http://onibasu.com/archives/am/48303.html Have you done a hair test? If copper is elevated on a hair test, give extra zinc and molybdenum. That should bring it down within 3 months. You can chelate with DMSA even with high copper, but be careful with ALA, since it inhibits copper excretion via urine in lots of people. http://onibasu.com/archives/am/143992.html Anne > > Hello everyone, > > I had Urine test done on my 3.5 year old Son. Guest guest
Does your house had copper water pipes? Does your son eat lots of copper-containing foods (nuts, etc)? Does he spend time in a swimming pool? Are you supplementing zinc? Does he take a multivitamin which contains copper? S S Confused: Mercury toxicity and elevated Copper and Zinc Levels Posted by: " Rhapsodist1 " tanveers@... Rhapsodist1 Thu Mar 27, 2008 1:17 pm (PDT) Hello everyone, I had Urine test done on my 3.5 year old Son. As expected, Mercury did not show up - because of its hidden nature... but since mercury also causes an imbalance in the level of nutrient elements, therefore, in the report, I see elevated levels of Copper and Zinc. I have seen relation of Autism to elevated level of Cu/Zn .... but is that a common thing in Autistic kids? By the way, Copper level came out to be 24.0 (ref range: 4.0-11.4) And Zinc level came out to be 712 (ref range: 63-688) Thanks a lot guys, -TS _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web! Guest guest
, thanks for your feedback. My answers are followed by *** Does your house had copper water pipes? *** No. Since his birth the houses we have lived in were all built in after 2000. I believe only older homes have copper water pipes. Does your son eat lots of copper-containing foods (nuts, etc)? *** No, we do not feed our son nuts neither does he likes it. Does he spend time in a swimming pool? *** No, we do not have a swimming pool, neither we take him to any swimming. Are you supplementing zinc? Does he take a multivitamin which contains copper? *** No, so far we have not given him any zinc or any other multivitamins. From this forum and Internet, I have come to know that ASD kids are anyway, high in copper. Now as you can see that the zinc level are high too ... normally you would see ASD kids with high copper but low zinc. BTW, we have started chelation (DMSA+ALA) today. And this is our first round. So far, have not seen any side effects nor any improvements. Thanks, -TS > > > Does your house had copper water pipes? Does your son eat lots of copper-containing foods (nuts, etc)? Guest guest
TS - I don't know if the urine test is sufficient to conclude that he is copper toxic. I do believe that you can conclude that he is pissing out a lot of zinc and so assuming you are not dosing him with massive quantities of the stuff, I think he will be needing more. If there is a copper issue, then he will be needing molybdenum. You may want to consider a hair test to identify this. Dave. ----------------- Posted by: " Rhapsodist1 " tanveers@...
