I can definitely relate to this. As a child, I too had problems with my

wrists hurting. My parents even

bought those Ace wrist wraps for me to wear. Once I figured out that the aching wrists

were a direct result of the way I slept (with my hands tucked up under my

chin-wrists bent at 90 degree angles), I had to resolve to change the way I

slept. This was not easy, but the

knowledge of how I was causing the wrists to hurt helped.

The way I “fixed” the

problem was to remind myself each night before going to sleep, NOT to tuck my

hands up under my chin. It was

difficult, and it took awhile, but I eventually trained myself to lay my hands

(wrists flat) either under or on top of the pillow next to my head. (I’m a side sleeper.) I believe that I was able to change this

behavior because I had given myself the command NOT to tuck my hands under my

chin. Even while asleep, my

subconscious mind would help me out by waking me up just enough to realize what

I was doing wrong and reposition my hands.

After a while, the new position became habit and the hurting wrist

problem went away.

This is the ONLY thing that I ever did

to try and correct the problem, and it worked for me…but it did take a

while to re-train myself. Don’t

underestimate the power of your subconscious mind to help you change a habit. You may want to try this with your son,

or it may give you some other ideas as to how to help him. In any case, I wish you and yours happiness

and good health.
