Guest guest
I'm sure other parents who are experienced will answer your post, but I just wanted to share with you that I understand exactly how you feel. I can't tell you how many times I told friends/family " Dylan's talking! " only to see him lose any words he ever spoke within weeks. I don't know how long you've been chelating or what other treatments you have tried. We are on our 9th round , but no miracle of speech that I've seen other's describe. I will tell you that we did a high dose Vit A protocol last week for measles and he popped up with 10 words he'll say 60% of the time I ask him!! For us this is big and I feel a new hope. I'm positive there is hope for your child too. You are not alone. Soliday <elizabethsoliday@...> wrote: It's really hard for me to even write about this because it tears my heart out. Awhile ago I realized that I was telling my relatives that was saying some new things and we were happy he was progressing. Yes, he says little two-three word sentences a few times a week, but they are different words from...say...a year ago and he has actually lost those words. Does anyone else have a kid like this? Does anything help? I was thinking today that he never says " I want... " like he used to and I haven't stopped trying to make him request things that way. We are currently trying ALA+NAC chelation using Andy's dosage protocol. (The NAC because he has somewhat high copper levels). He is on all the supplements too. Has anyone experienced chelation helping regressive autism? Is this what you would call regressive autism? ------------------------------------ =======================================================
Guest guest
quick thought...It feels like with my kids (plus others I know), that I noticed this pattern with...(it is heartbreaking)....those improvements do not seem to be totally " lost. " " Stored " is closer to what it feels like. Just waiting for a better time, better moment, while slugging thru the crapola...for us, new exposures caused these regressions (and, yes, I Can include vaccines into that mix ...my older girl did a regressive thing several times over the years - developing some rather severe " autistic " symptoms as an older child (uurrggh)...empathising, it is very hard to live thru...we have smaller versions of this with my older kids more recently (vs. the larger, in your face regressions)...hoping that is making sense - just know that for us, ending up with a better time/place/answers showed that many of the previously assumed " lost " skills and/or memories were still there,yk? ....on really really good days, my 4yo migraine girl belts out songs she hasn't heard for more than two years - songs that I forgot I sang to her...chuckling, sang them a zillion times over, amazed that I could " forget " them - big sigh....lots of littler details like that, that one is a biggee & rather startling when it happens wishing you, and all, the very best answers elizabeth -- In , Maggie O'rourke <maggie_orourke@...> wrote: > > I'm sure other parents who are experienced will answer your post, but I just wanted to share with you that I understand exactly how you feel. Guest guest
ps...for us, essential fatty acids are absolutely crucial to these types of improvements...verbal/social skills go downish, when we are out of these & " perk " right back up when we have them again so I work hard to not ever run out these days...fish oil was Huge, and the first " new to me " supp that I used with my migraine girl (ever grateful for that) - side note, " bad " fish oil gave her a 2 wk migraine tho, would be careful to get best oils possible, be aware of any possible contamination type issues, blahblahblah ....the viral/vit A link totally makes sense to me also & I can connect it to these things...more recently, CLO has been very very good...and squash - squash and blueberries have been our own personal " big bang " foods...as necessary for us, as the Vit E, Zinc, and so on... wishing all the best answers elizabeth > > It's really hard for me to even write about this because it tears > my > > heart out. Guest guest
My son did this as well. I called it the " 50 first dates syndrome " as he would learn the same words every few days, and would act so proud. What do you have on board with yeast/bacteria? How about mb12? The thing that has helped my son the most with language has been homeopathy. I guess just a bit of time and different biomed / homeopathic interventions geared at your child's problem ares help eliminate this. Once your child's gut and immune health heal, his brain with follow along. How old is your son? > > It's really hard for me to even write about this because it tears my > heart out. Does anyone else have a kid like this? Does anything help? Viruses did this to my son. Plus when he no longer needed a supplement, it did tend to cause problems like this also. What anti-virals, if any, do you use? How is the yeast protocol? > We are currently trying ALA+NAC chelation using Andy's dosage > protocol. (The NAC because he has somewhat high copper levels). I have not read that NAC helps with high copper. I know zinc does. Dana
Guest guest
Dear , I am sorry for you frustration and concern. You asked what if anything helped. My child was like this. He was an early user of words then sort of stalled out in gaining new words and then lost words that he had. It took us till he was 3 to figure out what was wrong. When he was 3y3mo we started with a DAN MD and things have progressed well since. The first thing that she did was put my son on Methyl B 12 injections. There were tests, tons of supplements, special diets and other interventions but this was the first intervention and it did produce language. It wasn't as the Dr Nurbrander videos seem to show. He didn't start talking right away but over about three weeks he became verbal, then started using echolalia then started spontaneous sentences. I am not saying that the B 12 shots were the miracle cure that made everything better. BUT I would have moved heaven and earth to continue the B 12 shots after we saw the positive results from them. I also do not think we would be where we are today without ABA and Sensory Integration. Bio Med and Therapy both were necessary. One to heal and the other to rehab/recover from the injury. As many have mentioned this is a long haul I don't know if my son will fully recover. He looks like he might but I cannot say for sure. I'll let you know when that time comes but it will be a long wait. I'll hold off on counting him recovered till after he graduates college and has a good life established before I am able to say " OK, everything is OK. Guest guest
If you have a child who is gaining skills only to lose them and this is a repeated pattern, get an EEG and/or consider a trial of antiseizure medication. Andy
Guest guest
My now 8yo ds (8th birthday tomorrow) showed such symptoms too. However, I noticed is that whenever the frequency/intensity of training him on those selected words stopped after a few weeks, he would lose those words. I used to teach him the 26 alphabets A-Z ( & only w & q are the ones beyond his grasp) using Glen Doman's method of flashing cards but once I got too busy at work & stopped, he lost most of them within 3 months. If I may say, the most effective thing that ever worked to train him up in skills is the " frequency " , intensity & his needs fulfillment. Biomed reduces his yeast/self-laughing issues but is nowhere close to intensive training when it comes to beefing his skills up. Has anyone seen considerable improvement in their kids cognitive & communication skills just purely from biomed (chelation included) with no training (ABA, PECS, TEACCH, etc) given? She is now above age level in every single area of communication and cognitive development. She was so oppositional at 3, there was no teaching her anything so therapy was not an option. With chelation she just progressed to the point where there are no issues. G

I homeschool my kids. I have done ABA on my own, altho it was only about one hour per day. It did not really help much, but my son was severely low functioning at the time. It did help somewhat with behaviors, so that is what I primarily used it for. Biomedical was key. My kids started picking up new concepts on their own, with appropriate biomedical. On this page is what my son needed for language http://www.danasview.net/issues.htm Dana
Guest guest
Thanks , for this encouragement. HI, my name is Klawitter and I am new to this group. I have a nine year old daughter, Naomi, who is not considered autistic but does have severe problems in her language ability. She has been in speech therapy on and off since she was three and her most recent speech teacher has diagnosed her as severe and on the age level of a five yr. old. She does not have much of a problem articulating or pronouncing words but the problem comes in expressing her thoughts. She has a very hard time with sequential problems, word retrieval, and putting sentences together that just make sense. My four year old speaks 10 times better than her. The weird thing is she has memorized all her math facts but can't retain vocabulary. She has never been vaccinated but does seem to have a yeast or fungal problem, i believe, and it shows up in bowel movements once every 3 days and eczema. There are no DAN doctors where i live and of course our doctor thinks nothing is wrong with these symptoms. While she was in the womb, i was drinking water from a natural spring which i was told was tested and was fine but now i am wondering if it could have been contaminated with heavy metals. Since it has been 9 yrs. since her birth how would i go about having her tested for metal toxicity? I feel so overwhelmed with how i am to help her. thanks for anything advice, jennifer On Apr 7, 2008, at 5:28 AM, <Ladyshrink111@...> wrote: > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Goh > > Has anyone seen considerable improvement in their kids cognitive > & communication skills just purely from biomed (chelation included) > with no training (ABA, PECS, TEACCH, etc) given? > > ====>Although she never had any memory problems, she did have 5 > identifiable learning disabilities including auditory processing, > sequential problems, word retrieval, inattention, fine motor > control as well as social issues that resolved with Biomed and not > one hour of therapy. > > She is now above age level in every single area of communication > and cognitive development. > > She was so oppositional at 3, there was no teaching her anything so > therapy was not an option. Guest guest
We have had much success in the way of vocabulary and memory. My son was horrible with remembering words at first, and would lose them only to relearn them the next day. Vitamin A, yeast treatment, LDN cream, but mostly homeopathy helped him move on to learn speech. We only do speech therapy in-class (which has never helped him with speech by the way), and very liimited PECS for a time. I just felt like if he only had the building blocks for speech, it would come. We still struggle with conversational speech, but it's coming. I would definitely suggest homeopathy though! Also, have his vitamin A levels checked as this is often associated with speech. > > My now 8yo ds (8th birthday tomorrow) showed such > symptoms too.
