Guest guest
You sound determined to have your daughter try LDN and that's great! Our daughter suffered for many years w/UC/Crohns/IBD - i think all these conditions are similar - I know the doctors like to draw lines in the sand but, to me, all these conditions are very much related to oneanother. Our daughter was flaring at least 2x a year, had weight loss(20+), loose bm, abd. pain, anemia etc. We tried everything - medicines, diet, vitamins, herbs, acupuncture, even hyperbaric o2 treatments! She saw many doctors - regular and alternative. But it wasn't until she started using LDN that she began to heal - She now is free of pain, gained weight back, no more loose bm, no anemia, etc. Just before finding out about LDN her doctor was INSISTING that she start Remicade! One other thing .... my daughter doesn't eat foods that she is alleric to ... like egg whites, gluten, soy and yeast (Enterolab). She also takes digestive enzymes (Klaire labs) and Sulfazine twice a day. Bee well and take care, I hope that I have helped you a little bit. ette [low dose naltrexone] help to convince Dr. I am new to the group. I have an 11 yr old daughter with ulcerative colitis. Does anyone have a child with UC who is taking LDN? I want to gather some info to convince her Dr. to give it a try. His argument is that it is not FDA approved for UC and that the studies are done mostly on animals. I realize that it is FDA approved at the regular dose and she would only be using 1/10 of that and I also know of the Crohn's study from PA. I am looking for actual children with UC who are using LDN and having success. I need something concrete. Much thanks for any help, Kim
Guest guest
Very important note : Our daughter tried LDN in capsule form at first - tried same for almost 3 months - but saw no improvement. I then suggested to the doctor she try the cream instead - and within a couple of days she was feeling so much better! So I would advise the cream for your daughter also and not the capsules - if she is like my daughter, her intestines are also too inflamed to therapeutically absorb the LDN. We order same from Coastal Pharmacy. [low dose naltrexone] help to convince Dr. I am new to the group. I have an 11 yr old daughter with ulcerative colitis. Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear that your son's doctor refuses to consider LDN. Have you printed out material for him to read? You should ask him to please call Dr. Jill and for him to speak with her about LDN - tell him that he can bill you for the call :-). I hope that you have success in getting a prescription. If not, there are doctors on the website that you can call. Take Care, ette [low dose naltrexone] help to convince Dr.  I am new to the group. I have an 11 yr old daughter with ulcerative colitis. Guest guest
Every time I see people having problems with their DR's not willing to prescribe LDN, I wonder - what have become of the idea getting Revia or Nodict from e.g. a Canadian pharmacist and make fluid, home made LDN of theese tablets?? As I understand, it is possible for at least US people (I actually dont know where you are located) to order online and achieve it without problems?? - have I misunderstood anything here, then please correct me - if I havn't, this would be a very simple thing to do?? Guest guest
>I can tell you that my son is 14 with UC and his GI doc also refused to write the prescription. I called Bihari's office (can get the number from the website) and they referred me to someone who would write the script. He has been on LDN cream (get the cream from COastal Pharmacy) for almost 3 weeks and I believe it took him out of a flare while he was on asacol and 6MP. I switched the asacol to azulphidine and started the LDN and he went out of the flare. The first time in two years that he didn't need prednizone so I can safely say it was the combination of the two new meds. I think you may have better luck with a primary care doc for the prescription as I myself went to my primary for a prescription and she already know about it and was fine with writing me a script for a problem other than IBD. THere is also the Crohn's study at Penn state and Dr. is doing one with kids. IF you are near Penn. perhaps you can get in on the study. Someone on this list also has a list of docs willing to write scripts. I think LDN can help UC as well as Crohn's as well as other auto immune disorders. Good luck, Judy > I am so sorry to hear that your son's doctor refuses to consider LDN. > Have you printed out material for him to read? > You should ask him to please call Dr. Jill and for him to speak > with her about LDN - tell him that he can bill you for the call :-). > I hope that you have success in getting a prescription.
