Guest guest
I was giving my son folinic acid on the advice of a former doctor. It did nothing for him, no effects whatsoever. I understand that this is not always an easily absorbed folate for kids on the spectrum and that Folapro is better. I have ordered this supplement. We are going to commence B12 next week, not sure if it will be oral or shots yet, we have both, realize the pros and cons of each. But I understand that folic acid is good to give with B12. My question is how much to give a three year old? And must it be given at the exact time the B12 is given, or can it be given a little earlier in the day? Also, does the Folapro have any side effects I should be aware of? With the folinic acid I gave 800mcg per day. Someone told me that since Folapro is better absorbed I should start with a low dose and work up to a higher dose to avoid hyperactivity. Would appreciate any comments. Thanks. At my house, folic acid required carnitine for proper absorption. So did mB12. I used oral mB12, and I had to give it with folic and carnitine at the same time. It did tend to increase yeast at first. Dana
