They just tasted soggy and I don't enjoy them at all. At present I cannot make anything in my blender with nuts because my good one is broken and this one the bottom unlocks whenever you put nuts or dates in it, even with liquid. I know because I had so much fun trying to make the fudge recipe and after all the preparation I wasn't going to give up so we just had to keep catching the leaks and screwing it back together until finally I got a slightly wetter but OK fudge mix that Dylan ate most of. Now I can't make it again for him. I really want to make that recipe Mock Sour Cream (although Cashews aren't technically raw because they use heat to get them out of their shell) I need to be able to make nut things and then maybe I will be able to eat more raw for a change. Second question is about black tea. Carl drinks a lot of organic black tea. I have told him it is acid forming and is worse than coffee or at least that's what it said in the book "Complete Nutrition" by Dr Sharon. I have told Carl this but he is getting sick of me telling him this and that. He's a bit stubborn - Taurus the Bull heeeheee :-) Any input on the tea even just for me to know and I can subtly try and get him to reduce his consumption. He probably has about 6 cups and day maybe plus a coffee or 2. Me I'm a good girl even coffee makes me feel sick now :-) Tracey =========================== Hi Tracey, LOL, I know all about the bull. Hehehehe Black tea and green tea are only worse than coffee in that they are so high in tannins. Tannins are not good for the human digestive system in large amounts. Is Carl regular in his bowel movements? At least 3 per day, one for each meal? Are they soft and well formed or are they bricks? Gross I know. Too much tannins can constipate a person or worse could lead to cancerous and other terminal dis-ease conditions. I like tea too but I usually limit myself to one or two cups and usually only drink it when my hemorrhoids flare up and the tannins handle that condition rather quickly. You might try some nice herbal teas and see how he likes those. At least to get him to cut down to maybe one or two a day. Any caffeinated beverages, coffee, teas, cocoa, mate, etc., are hard on the adrenal glands due to the caffeine. These substances really stress the adrenal glands and over time will even shut them down completely. The adrenal glands are extremely important in the function of the human body for they create all kinds of hormone precursors that are then utilized in the making of our hormones. When the adrenals quit functioning all sorts of physical problems ensue. Thyroid issues, fatigued all the time, lowered immunity, etc. Caffeine, although it appears to be a really nice addiction is a false energy booster. The pay off for the energy boost provided is much more expensive than what you get for your moneys worth. True energy belongs to everyone. Eat a raw food diet, cleanse your body on a continuing basis and you will have more natural energy than you will ever know what to do with, although I am sure you will find ways. ;-) Now, a bit of advice, you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink. Same goes for a bull. You might consider easing off telling Carl how bad his diet is for him. Best would be to become an example for your whole family and lead that way. Eventually, he will begin to see and understand. Once he does then he will be more willing to make changes and listen. Just a piece of advice. There are tons of raw foodists who claim they were into that too but eventually found that just keeping it simple not only works out the best for them but they find they actually feel much better and have tons more time as well. I have heard about Marilyn Diamonds new book. I haven't read it yet. It's a shame but she is right where she needs to be and doing what she needs to be doing for her own personal growth.
