Guest guest
I've been giving my son adreanl cortex and he's gotten really hyper. He's not fixated on one thing anymore so it's gotten him running through the house getting into everything. This is extreme hyper! It reminds me of when his neuro put him on celexa for OCD and it did the same. He was a dangerous hyper then. So I quit giving him the celexa. Now I need something to calm him. Would some Inositol help or maybe 5HTP mixed with it? Thanks Amy

Guest guest
I only give him 1 cap/2x's daily of ACE. Should I give a half capsule twice daily? I will try upping his Taurine too. Guest guest
The amounts in different kinds of adrenal cortex vary widely, from 75 mgs to 250 mgs. I would suggest you cut back and ramp it up very slowly as your son seems to be tolerating it. Taurine is a supp that Pangborn and Baker think should be introduced very early on. Did you also introduce extra B vitamins to support the adrenals? If so, Bs can cause hyperactivity in some kids. Guest guest
Our ACE is 250mg's. I started with a half capsule once a day, then twice a day and recently started a whole cap twice a day. We started Taurine last year. I did have to stop giving it in January and started back slowly with it. We've been giving B vitamins since last year too but I haven't added any extra. I give him MB12 (2500mcg) once daily with folic and carnitine but they never cause hyperness. He usually gets hyper after the ACE. The only time he gets hyper is if he's having yeast problems or if I'm giving something to help his OCD. Usually giving something to control OCD causes this extreme hyperactivity. Last summer his neuro prescribed celexa for the OCD. Within no time Colby was bouncing off the walls. If he could climb it he would jump from it. January we went in for his 6 month checkup and the neuro told us it was working and we were seeing the REAL him. So trying to stop his OCD gave us a dangerous, unstopable little boy. We could NOT stop his crazy behavior. So the neuro wanted us to put him back on the celexa and start clomipramine to calm him. We haven't tried the clomipramine yet and we didn't put him back on the celexa. Do I give the taurine at the same time I give the ACE? I usually add the Taurine to his multi mix of vitamins.
