Guest guest
Hi, We were told that my 10 year old daughter didn't get her chicken pox vaccine when she was 7. She had the chicken pox when she was small. She's got 2 scars from them. How can I get out of giving her this vaccine? There's no way to prove to them that she already had the chicken pox. Is there another vaccine they get at age 7? We were told she's missing 2. One, of course, is the chicken pox. I was hoping to chelate her this summer. If she gets this other other vaccine, how long do I wait afterwards to begin chelation? Thanks Amy
Guest guest
My daughters step-mom had to get her shot record for daycare and the nurse informed her that Jerrica is missing to vaccines that she should have gotten when she was 7. They said one was the chicken pox vaccine. I will probably call and ask about it Monday and to see what the other is. It better not be the new one for cervical cancer (can't remember what it's called). My daughter is NT but she has other little issues like strabimus that I'm wanting to work on this summer. She's had all the other shots she needed at the time for Kindergarten. Thanks! > > > > Hi, > > > > We were told that my 10 year old daughter didn't get her chicken > pox > > vaccine when she was 7. Guest guest
I am not sure about whether you can use titers here to show immunity. Chick Pox is mandated in my state & doc's don't even ask whether the child already had it before injecting. They try to give it real early so there is NO chance the child will contract it naturally. Why do we need Dr.'s? Those pharma reps should just stand in the room and give the shots! It's TOTALLY out of control. --- glee1989@... wrote: > > Probably a stupid question, but is there a blood > test that could determine if she was already immune? > I don't think this is a " mandatory " vaccine, is it? > not sure. Guest guest
Definitely out of control. Especially when they're trying to vaccinate against something that she's not going to get again. What's the point? Just to say she had it done! > > > > > > Hi, > > > > > > We were told that my 10 year old daughter didn't > > get her chicken > > pox > > > vaccine when she was 7. Guest guest
If she already had the chicken pox, then she is immune and should show titers for it. You can have them test her for immunity to it. Also, if this vaccine is not mandated in your state for school, you can just refuse it, tell them she already had chicken pox and does not need it. (They can't force you) if it is mandated for school: Then file a religious exemption against all vaccines. Do not give this vaccine. It does not work anyway. Kids who have had it our still getting chicken pox. This is a live virus vaccine, pretty nasty stuff. I would think it would be a bad idea to give it to someone who's already had the disease. Also even if you get titers for her and prove she does not need it. What happens when they come at you for Gardasil, or whatever the next popular vaccine is? Then how do you get out of that one..it's a never ending battle. They are already talking about menningtis vaccines for school kids...what then? If you wish to save your child's future health....file the exemption and be done with this madness that modern medicine > > Hi, > > We were told that my 10 year old daughter didn't get her chicken pox > vaccine when she was 7. Guest guest
Here in Australia, 2 weeks ago, my 11 y/o bought home from school, a small form requesting a signature to have her chickenpox vaccine... wasn't compulsary, if she'd already previously had the chickenpox. More or less stated though that even if the child had previously had the chickenpox, there would be no harm in having the vaccine.(which I totally don't believe seeing as my ASD son got the chickenpox 2 [ ] Re: Chicken Pox Vaccine Im not sure about the testing or if it's mandatory. Guest guest
sorry, ds sent previous message without me finishing, anyway, he got the chickenpox from the vaccine 2 weeks afterwards. The form asked whether I agreed or disagreed with her having the vaccine...I chose the latter, and havn't heard anything back in regards to if she really did have the chickenpox as a child(how are they to know I might be lying?)...sounds as though here in Aus' things are a bit simpler in regards to this. Guest guest
http://www.nvic.org/state-site/state-exemptions.htm Check your state exemption laws here and do what you can do to avoid the vaccine. I think most states allow titers as proof of immunity. Pam > > > > > > Hi, > > > > > > We were told that my 10 year old daughter didn't > > get her chicken > > pox > > > vaccine when she was 7. Guest guest
Amy, The HPV/cervical cancer shot is called Guardasil. It is recommended for girls at the age of 12 years. It won't be that one. Did you take your daughter to the doctor when she had chicken pox? Doesn't sound like you did. If so, get copies of those records. Get the viral titers for all the shots needed to enter kindergarten in your state. A doctor or other professional authorized to order blood tests will have to do this for you. http://www.nvic.org/state-site/state-exemptions.htm If I didn't post this site to you already, check your state's exemption rules here and take advantage of each and every one of them! > > > > > > Hi, > > > > > > We were told that my 10 year old daughter didn't get her chicken > > pox > > > vaccine when she was 7. Guest guest
I agree with the poster quesioning who is telling you that your daughter " must " have this vaccine. Vaccinating for chicken pox is totally ridiculous to me. You can have her titers checked, via a blood test. Here is info explaining what titers are and how to test for them. It even uses the example of not needing a chicken pox shot because of previous exposure. Hope this helps. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003333.htm ~ Tamara
Guest guest
Bradley is on Humira and MTX and his Rheumy told us NO live vaccines so no chicken pox, no MMR and no flu mist, only the injection type. We also opted to have our other children not get these as well since it would be kind of scary if they got the illness and passed it on to Bradley. Hope this helps you. marie Mommy to Bradley (Pauci JRA, Uveitis and ANA+) Charlie and > > Does anyone know if it is okay to get the chicken pox vaccine while on > MTX? Guest guest
, If my memory serves me right, was not able to get her second shot while on the MTX and they had to make sure she had her first shot prior to starting it. Hope this helps. > > Does anyone know if it is okay to get the chicken pox vaccine while on > MTX? Guest guest
We just went through this in November at my daughters well-child. She just turned 8 and was due for her 2nd dose of the chicken pox vaccine. We DID NOT give it to her per the rheumatologist's instructions. The rheumy strongly urged us to do the flu " shot " but said no way to the flu mist because it is a live virus. I hope that helps! Jen 's mom (8, poly) chicken pox vaccine Does anyone know if it is okay to get the chicken pox vaccine while on MTX? Grant is due for his second round of it and I've heard something about not getting a vaccine if it is a live virus. That might also be if you are on Enbrel or another TNF blocker. Thanks! & Grant (11, PsA/Uveitis)
Guest guest
Ditto for us, no live virus vaccines. Some rhuemy's even advise against it if not on immune suppressing meds but just because of the sake that the child has an auto-immune disease alone. -Hadley (Isabelle, 5 yrs. pauci jra) > > Does anyone know if it is okay to get the chicken pox vaccine while on > MTX?
