Guest guest
Hi We have only used Prednisone once so far. With Emma's episodes we do get fooled into the fever getting lower or stopping after 2-3 days and then suddenly it comes back with a vengeance. But it's then still the same episode, just maybe half a day when it's not so bad and then up to 106 or so again after a nap (she tends to overheat sleeping no matter how few clothes I put on her, with the fan on etc). Also her episodes sometimes start more mildly the first day or so and we get fooled into thinking it's something else this time but it always turns out to be 'the fever'. Emma doesn't really get sick with anything else except the odd cold but then it's obvious what it is (cough, runny nose etc). Hope this helps Inga curious... I was wondering as my daughter was just diagnosed with this and we have not yet used prednisone, for those of you who don't use it or can recall before you started using it, did your child's fever ever break after a few days only to return within the next day or two? I have often thought Madi was over her episode only to have it reappear very fast...wondering if thats a norm for any of your children? . ___________________________________________________________ Answers - Got a question? Guest guest
, My son had his fever every four weeks on average before prednisone but it did start to come every two weeks or so after we began the prednisone. His episodes used to last about 4-5 days. Mostly due to the inflammation in his throat, he stopped eating and was very thirsty. Prednisone takes the episode away w/in 24hrs and his throat is better and he starts to eat the next day after taking it. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Inga Bothner Sent: Thursday, June 21, 2007 3:44 AM Subject: Re: curious... Guest guest
Thanks to all of you who responded...That sounds like the same thing...aside from her every 3 weeks episodes she does often have a break after day 3 or 4 for a day. Sometimes it would break on a Saturday so I would send her to school Monday thinking she was over it, only for it to come back that day. This doesn't happen every time, sometimes it's a solid episode anywhere from 4 to 8 days. It has been quite tough at times as I am divorced with 3 kids, Madi being the youngest. I am also in college studying to become a Registered Nurse. She has had this a year like I mentioned before, which causes us both to miss school...not good!! With my clinicals starting in August I am really hoping the prednisone works for her. > > Hi > We have only used Prednisone once so far. Guest guest
When my daughter was going through the episodes she was in elementary. I just told the school principal and the nurse about her episodes and with supporting documentation from her doctor , that took care of the missing days. She missed so many back then. At the time, I was working full time and my husband was in the army. It was tough. Marcie, New Jersey > > > > Hi > > We have only used Prednisone once so far.
