Guest guest
Hi I was directed here by someone on another site, to which I had posed a question regarding LDN and hashimotos thyroiditis. I was diagnosed with Hashi's in 2001-I still have so many symptoms with it and would like to know if LDN would benefit me? The moderator of the other group said he thought it had been used for people with autoimmune thyroiditis but you would have to be monitored closely by a doctor for your thyroid levels. My questions is: Does anyone know if it would actually help regenerate the thyroid-or would it just help with reduction in antibodies? Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated-I'm always hesitant to try any new medication. Thanks Jewel
Guest guest
The relationship between Hashi and gluten: They are connected by both being on the same HLA DQ2 and HLA DQ8 genes. It could be one or the other, or both. 40% of the population has these genes. According to Dr. O' ... (and everything he states is backed up by medical and science research. He has pulled together all the research from around the world concerning this topic. No one else has done that, I am not aware of anyone else having done that), Hashi cannot be triggered unless gluten intolerance is already in existence. Only 30% of people have the so called typical gut symptoms. It is estimated that 1 in 133 people are gluten intolerant. People are being treated for various autoimmune conditions that show up that may be caused by gluten and the gluten part is not being addressed or checked out. (There are other unknown causes for the other AI diseases too.). There are a myriad of various symptoms ex perienced in each individual. He thinks celiac disease or gluten intolerance will eventually be known as a neurological disease and not just an intestinal disease. The only cure at this time is complying 100% to a gluten free diet. He has an excellent 2 hr DVD, "Unlocking the Mystery of Gluten Intolerance and Wheat" obtained on his web site thedrs.com for only $20.00 + 5.00 S & H. Explains all and it changed my life. I was about 75% GF compliant. Watching that video, I crossed the line and no longer even want anything gluten. He and his team have created a new test for celiac disease that will be 100% accurate whether or not you have been eating gluten ... the current testing is about 80% accurate. I recently had a personal correspondence with him and he said this test will be available end of June or beginning of July. I think it is a saliva test and that an individual can get the test without having to go through a doctor. Dr. Tom has taken three years off from his chiropractic profession in the Chicago area to travel the world and educate people. His passion comes from family members not being treated correctly in the allopathic medical system. I am in no way connected to promoting him other than his information changed my life. Ultimately leading me to this LDN site 2 years later. Check out his web site, he may be presenting near you. His Friday night sessions are usually free and open to the public. He does a lot of training for mostly professionals involved in Functional Medicine (they sponsor him), and these sessions are open to anyone for a fee. I don't know what his opinion is regarding LDN. Bottom line: If you have Hashimotos consider educating yourself regarding the harm of gluten. There is a direct correlation between the two. And as Art said, if you have one autoimmune people often end up developing others. I think all of mine (now 4) all started with having eaten gluten for my whole life. I think the inflammation from leaky gut that happens in celiac patients set up the autoimmune process in my body. My hope is that LDN can halt the process.
