Hi All,

It is now day 11 on LDN for my daughter - it's been an a rollercoaster so far.

I have come to the conclusion that the SCD diet is just not going to work for her simply because there is NOTHING she wants to eat on it. We think the nausea she was having was from either Ensure or the LDN filler. We are changing to the transdermal when it gets here.

She also had a B12 shot yesterday and it really helped. I can't believe the Doctor in the States did not have her on B12 considering she's very anemic and has obvious B12 deficiency symptoms.

Anyway, she had some stomache pain last night, but nowhere near what it's been.

We had changed the LDN to morning dose early on due to sleep issues, but I'm wondering if the evening dose really is more effective.

For those of you with Crohn's, what are you eating ? She's willing to stay away from bread, milk, and sugar, but she really needs to put on some weight. She love potatoes, taro, and breadfruit, all of which can be prepared soft.

She also tends to crave fruit when she starts feeling like eating at all, but I'm thinking any fruit should be cooked.

Any idea's of "safe" foods she can eat to gain weight and to get some nutrition into her ? She is drinking Absorb Plus, but it contains milk. I can make her banana-yogurt (SCD, so no lactose) shakes.

Thanks,

Hi ,

I hope you can find someone who does allergy testing. There are many different

types of allergy tests and all of them can help. IGE blood tests, skin prick,

intradermal testing...any of them could help you determine at least what to

start eliminating.

I am on a rotation diet. I discovered I was allergic to most grains except

wheat, rye, barley, buckwheat (not a grain), quinoa, and millet. Yay wheat

right? Well, wheat isn't useful when you're allergic to soy, eggs, milk, baker's

yeast, etc... Picture someone eating a bag of flour :) I LIVED on corn and

rice for a year to keep weight on, and guess what? I'm allergic to it now. And

it is almost impossible to tell what I am allergic to because it's a subtle

reaction that happens over 3 days.

I would avoid the things she eats daily and start feeding her things she hasn't

had before. See how she does over 2 weeks. Then you can think about adding one

thing at a time... it should make it easier to see what she is reacting to.

Honestly, the less exposure she's had to the new foods, the better. Get really

odd things that are still nutritious and you'll want to get non-processed foods

(not stuff like ensure). Cook the vegetables, but make sure they are not canned

(frozen is usually ok if nothing is added). I had to cut out the things I lived

on (rice, corn, etc) and start eating things like buckwheat, quinoa, millet,

turnips, rutebega, rhubarb, okra, collard greens.... and rotate them. Rotate

meats, fruits, everything. I started hunting down goat, rabbit, venison, bison,

etc. I have one item once every 4 days (so 1 time in 12 meals). It's hard to

keep track If you want more information on a rotation diet let me know. It is a

royal pain

in the backside, but it limits your exposure to foods, helping you prevent

additional allergies.

And I don't understand why she wasn't on B12 before. It seems like some

treatments are really behind the times....
