Hi Dave, Is what you are asking is what something acts _most_ like penicillin? Or are you really asking us if there is a _moss_ that acts like penicillin? If _moss_ is the word you really mean, perhaps you have confused _moss_ with _mold_. The Ebers Papyrus of Egypt about 1550 BC mentions using barley bread mold on wounds. The ancient Chinese had molds in their pharmacy. Ask your self, if using mold is a dependable way to counter a life threatening infection how is it that it fell into disuse between then and more modern history. In the 1929 Fleming discovered the mold _Penicillium spp._ can produce antibacterial chemicals. What he invented, penicillin, wasn't in much use until the army decided to use it during WW 2. McKenna and Harrod Buhner both have written books specifically about using herbs as or as an alternative to pharmaceutical antibiotics. Neither book mentions moss.
