Horehound is a wonderful herb. However, it is much better to use it as a tea or as a cough drop. You can tincture it but the tea is more effective from my perspective. Horehound also happens to be somewhat diaphoretic so drinking it hot helps the body to perspire. This is why taking it in tea is so much more effective. I do believe that Suzi put a little something in the files about making cough drops using horehound. Works really well. The tea, though, unless you sweeten it tastes really nasty. Very bitter herb. Makes a great cough candy or just plain candy I guess.
