Typical trolling behavior is to attack someone in a moderately high class way and then complain they're attackiing you when they respond appropriately. If you're going to ban personal attacks, why not sophistry and trolling? Those are far more destructive. Acutally those who have been on the list a while know that a lot of productive discussions have really been very heated and somewhat personal. Some people need a bit of emotion to lubricate their intellectual machinery. Not always very pleasant at the time but really nothing wrong with it. Realistically speaking, we're talking to parents about their poor unfortunate children who got abused and poisoned with their consent by people in positions of trust and authority, and who are then viewed as very lucrative customers by a lot of vendors with mutually contradictory claims and information that the parents have to sort out to have some hope of giving their child a future back. Of course there is going to be a lot of emotion - including a lot of anger - involved in this discussion. And we're not all perfect people so some may on occasion exhibit these unpleasant emotions in a way that others don't like. Personally I think we should all be tolerant. By not being moderated we've avoided falling into some unnanounced editorial bias as for example the ABMD list has done, and this has in fact been extremely helpful for the people coming here to get real information.
