I would suggest asking cell phone users in your area which service they think has the best quality and coverage, then going from there. You also need to figure out your needs: - how often will you be using it? This will affect the base plan you choose. I.e. how many minutes/month you will need. - do you currently spend a lot in long distance? This will affect whether the services that offer free long distance are something you can benefit from. - will you use the phone when you travel? This will affect the importance of roaming charges, tracking that matches your home area, etc. Right before we picked Sprint PCS ~3 years ago, we asked around and found that many AT & T and Primeco users in our area (Austin, TX) weren't very happy with the quality of the connections or coverage. And with Sprint's free long distance to anywhere in the country, we immediately knocked our $75/month long distance bill to $0. And while traveling, if we're close to a large city (or on a major highway), we're in Sprint's digital coverage, which is tracked and billed just like if we're at home (free long distance, all minutes taken from your base pool of minutes, etc). We're very happy with our service, but I imagine there are better services in other areas (and maybe even in ours by now). Hope this helps. Craig --- Craig | Austin, TX | dcm@... Guest guest
I have a LG 4400 that I got from Verizon. Worked the best of all of them for sound quality with the hearing aid and CI, I use headphones and it does great. My wife has the LG 4500 and it is not as clear. Mike Re: Cell phones HI all! I'm sorry that I haven't posted here in ages, but I have been extremely busy for almost the past year with a new girlfriend in my life! I met her on a singles cruise last June in Barcelona. We've been dating ever since! Anyways, she wants me to get a cell phone for emergencies and stuff. I had two cell phones before. Now I would like to ask you what you recommend since I haven't had one now for almost two years. I do remember people recommending the Motorola Star Tac, but that is discontinued now. Another one the Motorola V60? Isn't the CDMA technology better than the TDMA technology? Or vice versa? Also heard about some Samsung model. Lastly, isn't Verizon the preferred network providor than Cingular? Also, I would only be using it like one minute a month, which is why I cancelled it 2 years ago, but with a girlfriend now who needs some " assurance " , it's different. What about the cell phone (Staples) where you can buy a little " phone card " and put it in the cell phone and only pay for what you buy, rather than a monthly fee every month? I need a little refreshing course here on cell phone models, so please help me! I have the Platinum BTE with the T-Mic. Thanks a million! Guest guest
I used speaker phone mode for a while. It's a big improvement but probably still does some damage. LessEMF sells some bags shielded on one side. I've heard of someone putting the phone outside the house and running some kind of cable to it but he's an electrical engineer.... Guest guest
Hello, My mom said she had a really intense dream that cell phones contributed to my son's autism. When I thought about it the timing with the high number of cases of autism increase around the same time as cell phones became really popular. Has anyone seen any research on whether this could have contributed to the increase in autism. Just curious. Guest guest
-There is a lot of info on the web about this. I personally think it can't be helping but I tend to find the vaccines more responsible. However, EMF's are not good if you have metals in your head. Cell phones do emit some radiation when they are on and should not be used by children. I think Dr. Mercola had some stuff on his site about this. The vaccines increased at this same time also...and not all our kids were exposed to cell phones. I did not own one when my son was little. In fact we did not get one until this year. He's 5 now and it is a prepaid that I only turn on to use. Otherwise it's off. I don't discount phones as problematic is some ways to our healthy, I just find my son's hair test more convincing. -- In , campbell <daff0dil77@...> wrote: > > > Hello, > My mom said she had a really intense dream that cell phones contributed to my son's autism. Guest guest
I did read a study showing the chelation of heavy metals was inhibited in the presence of EMFs. I'll see if I can dig it up.
