Guest guest
My 5 year old NT son has an oil slick in his urine. It's especially visible in the morning when he first pees after getting up. He's got low cortisol and I'm treating him with supplements & dietary changes. We've noticed nice results there too, with an increase in energy and fewer (almost no) muscle pains. He is pencil thin and his muscle development is not where it should be (eg he is weaker in the thighs than his older sister). At first I thought the issue with fat was the adrenals since I read that it affects the metabolism of fat. But since I still see the oil after treating the adrenals for 6 weeks, I tried some digestive enzymes to see if it helped. But the slick still remains. My next step is to try carnitine and possibly other supplements - what do others suggest? How do you dose the carnitine? I've read that it's important to build it up slowly but how do you know how much to give? I've also read that a fishy smell in the urine is a sign of too much so I suppose that I can go to that point then back down... But since my son is " NT " I'm wondering if there is any benefit in testing his levels before supplementing. Why is he deficient and how can I help correct this so that he doesn't have to take it forever? What other possibilities are there to explain oil in the urine? Can thyroid problems affect fat metabolism? Thanks for any leads,
