What happened with measles outbreak in CA?

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone here has heard what ever happened to those

children in CA who contracted the measles. It seems to me that

typically, the media has not followed up on those stories, nor how

those children fared with the diseases. I heard one child was

hospitalized. I may be ignorant here, but I still fail to see what

the big deal is with getting the measles? It used to be a regular

childhood disease like chicken pox. My mom & my grandma tell me how

everyone got it when they were kids, along with the mumps. I know

it is definitely not fun to go through and can be serious (and

doesn't that even depend on the child's diet, the strength of their

immune system, etc.?) but it's also very rare to be deadly. I did

not hear that anyone died from getting the measles. Also, the child

who was hospitalized, could have been hospitalized for a few hours

and send home, yet the media could still just report that they were

hospitalized, right?

I'm not trying to ask dumb questions, (and my morning coffee

usually makes me ramble) I just really want to know if anyone else

has heard the answer to my questions through any other news

sources.
