Guest guest
Thanks so much, ! If we ever get the money, I plan to reimplement ABA as that has been by far the best therapy for my boys. We just got overwhelmed with the debt and when the company closed down, it was a good time to take a break and see if we could let our finances build back up (though we have started pouring money into DAN and that was why I was trying to see what we can do on our own) Dana and Garrett, just turned 4, SCD 2 years Celiac, ASD, Speech and Motor Apraxia, sensory processing disorder From: Largey <l.largey@...> Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Can we do this on our own? Date: Wednesday, July 9, 2008, 11:56 PM We are doing it pretty much alone. We have a Dan Dr but she doesnt oversee our chelating our son. He has gut issues etc so we use her for that. I would suggest and its just my opinion : ) to keep the therapies. ABA, RDI, Floortime OT whatever can help is going to still be needed ( I think ) for our son to fully recover or get to be the best he can possibly be. Chelation opens the door but the children still need some healing and help from the damage. I also dont believe in giving all my hope in just one thing. This protocol, I believe, works. But I dont want to just count on it to totally heal my son. Wishing you all the best and hoping you give this a try we have seen great gains : ) 38 and Mom to three Tasha 23..new Mommy ( means I am a Grammy ) Casey-Mae 13..sweet as pie Elijah 2.. It is'nt easy but it can be done. Also I feel doctors or more likely to experiment with our kids after all at the end of the day they can and do just walk away from us if things don't go well while we're left to pick up the pieces. We also do ABA/VB at home. The Maurice book(behavioral interventions for young children) is an easy book to follow as is a Work in progress(Leaf and Mceachan) also: Educate towards recovery( Schramm) is excellent for trying to manage behaviours. There is also a very good FREE teaching manual download from www.mariposaschool. org. As we live in Australia we don't have to worry about insurance as there basically is'nt any regarding ASD so we have to virtually pay for everything excecpt for the initial mainstream tests (ECG MRI, etc) which we were very grateful for. Best wishes Kenny > Hi All! > > Need some advice and encouragement. I have been following this list for some time now. We finally consulted a wonderful DAN in December and have seen some good stuff through prescription antifungal and MB12 shots. We did agree to do DMSA suppositories a try. The problem is, I know the AC protocol is much safer and the stupid suppositories do not dissolve many times anyway. Just come back out in pieces in the BM. > > Also, testing - blood work, urine, labs, are getting to be outrageously expensive and we haven't even touched the tip of the iceburg with testing we could do. We have pulled our boys out of therapy (they only get 20 visits per year anyway) until the insurance mixups can be fixed. The company that did their ABA shut down in this area and that was getting outrageously expensive. > > I feel lately like I am dealing more with paying bills, straightening insurance mishaps, etc, etc than just being with my boys. > > My question is - can we do this on our own no outside therapists and no DAN doctors? If I can effectively work with my boys (homeschool) myself and chelate them using AC protocol, then I can save SOOOO much time dealing with the insurance company and other hospital billing offices and we can save money. > > Just need advice and encouragement from those who are doing this without outside therapist help and outside doctor/medical help. > > I have twins and both are severely effected but have really come a long way simply with diet and supplements alone. Guest guest
Dana, homeschooling is something I am trying to figure out myself now. I have always homeschooled my children and I had hoped my daughter would be healed quickly enough that she would just be able to be homeschooled just like my other kids. Well she isn't healed yet, but I am trying to work with her more to teach her things. Many people like RDI and I have been looking into this for myself. I think as I learn more I will start posting more about it on my blog. I get a lot of questions about it. http://wakingsophie.com > > > > Hi All! > > > > Need some advice and encouragement.
