I

This reminds me of my sister (62 yrs. old) – she LOVES

to tell everyone how sick she is and how many “specialists” she

visits. I tell her how to be

healthy, and she would rather do “her own thing”. When she had a headache, it’s

always “I hope it’s not a brain tumor”. When she has a stomach pain, it’s “I

hope it’s not cancer”. So she just spends her life at different

doctors, and has also passed this down to her son, who at 40,

is visiting doctors because of stomach cramps. Good grief! Most people are very happy with their

old pains (real or imagined) – so they have something to talk about with

their friends. “My disease is

worse than your disease.”

I would rather get rid of all the specialists and live healthy. They are costing me too much money.

An MD might have knowledge of some practice that can be very

effective

BUT unless the insurance companies approve of its usage as a valid

therapy, the dr. is leaving herself open for a malpractice adventure

should anything go wrong.

This is very true. We've all heard of renegade doctors who have been black-balled when they branched off into prescribing natural remedies. It's got to be a tough decision to make. I work with a man who has taken every known med to treat his arthritis pain. While surfing the net, he finally came across an all natural remedy that he tried and he swears it works like a charm. He told his doctor he was taking it and his doctor said "hey..if it works, go for it". But there is a good chance that this doctor wouldn't put himself on the line by recommending it to his patients. If word got out that he was curing arthritis pain with a $25 supplement he'd probably get a not too friendly knock on his office door pretty soon. Plus, if someone had a bad reaction from it, he could find himself in hot water. Allopathic medicine is a whole network of abuse and the doctor can be caught in the web as much as the patients.

You'd be surprised how many might say that but aren't really.

Antiboitics are a good example of noncompliance.

If an antibiotic is suggested for X amount of days and the patient

takes it for a shorter period, until noticable symptoms of the

pathology disappear, then the unfriendly bacteria has not been

totally irradicated. There is a good chance that when it

grows back in levels large enough to be noticed it will have

mutated so the original antibiotic will have no effect on it.

I have friends who wash down their pain Rx with shots of Jack s

:-/

But I do understand what you're saying.

I have a family member who recently had 80% of her kidney function

distroyed by Western medicine's therapy for her back pain.

My husband remembers me commenting to me a couple years ago about

this relative and how I'd said she'd eventually end up with a very

physical problem in her kidneys.

You could hear in her voice where her vulnerablity was.

It was useless for me to share this with the relative. The whole of

her cultural upbringing has been spent worshipping the word of

Western medicine as approved by the insurance industry.

That last comment is VERY important.

An MD might have knowledge of some practice that can be very

effective

BUT unless the insurance companies approve of its usage as a valid

therapy, the dr. is leaving herself open for a malpractice adventure

should anything go wrong.

If the insurance companies say its ok, as long as the dr. follows the

suggested protocol her " back is covered " .

Another issue; most people who use herbs as a medical therapy,

perhaps 90%, are self medicating with the herbs. They read

somewhere that a series of symptoms could be treated by

an herb and then use it as if its a " push button " .

MDs eventually see all the people who have been self medicating with

herbs or diet and done it wrong.

Its little wonder Western medicine is so down on using herbs and some

diets.

When I think I'm going to have a health adventure, I consult with

someone. I don't hand over the full responsibility of my therapy

to them but I do ask for their assessment of what is going on and

what they could recommend to treat it.

If my own imbalances are what is getting me into possible health

trouble I need some one neutral from those imbalances to help

me get a clearer picture of what is going on.

I see a gastrointernist once a year because my insurance

company pays for it and I'm well aware of the statistics of

colon cancer for people who have diagnosed IBD as I have.

I go in with a list.

The dr laughs and asks me what's new on the internet.

I wish my Dad had a group like this before he died.. he was always talking about this health food and that health food.... he died at 41 of cancer.....for a man that had not smoked for 20 years and was into the health food... he should have lived longer... guess this is why i am asking so many questions ... to make sure i understand.... maybe he just started tooo late...all I know is I got my interest from him... now just to follow it truely or I will end up just like him... I had done well all day.. then hubby comes home and we have lean pockets but with big salads.. is there anything to help with the craving for a cooked meal and not just cooked veggies...?Suzanne <suziesgoats@...> wrote:

ROFL... thanks... My father takes meds (always will) but he does somewhat listen to me - and does from time to time take my stuff (I think just to appease his "baby girl")... Mom on the other hand takes some meds, but is taking more and more herbs from me..

Suzi,

Pa is coming back for a while in May. I told him I have some ideas brewing that will be literally brewing. He said he won't be home..lol

If he tells me one more time how wonderful his lipitor is I am going to scream. Gotta give this beautiful man some credit though. He will be 79 God willing, this coming May and is always working. He has survived two triple bypasses, two angios, an explosion, a brain tumor, a diagnosis of lung cancer that just dissapeared ( I credited that to my intense prayer LOL) and then some. I did get him some supplements to take though he says he is sick of taking stuff and I also get the...Well the doctor said..

Inspite of being in constant pain he does not stop. He says when he does, he will literally. High cholestoral seems to run in this family. Last time I had mine checked it was unreal and I think I eat pretty well for the most part. They had me on nitro for a while. Something is to be said for a drug that literally knocks your head off. No thanks!

I am looking around for Horseradish so I can start making the super tonic. What's my chance here for getting him to take that?

:) Hope you are having a great night

I tell him all the time Suzi. I don't talk about everything that goes on with me and certainly not to my father as he doesn't need more to worry about but I feel that the good choices I have made and the ones I will continue to make will prove itself all in the end only to be a great thing :)

"I've come a long way Baby" LOL!

Toni

But are you improving??? are you taking alot of drugs?? these are things you have to tell him.. look how long it took to get the way you are... but you are improving.
