Guest guest
I was reading that its best to store herbal oils in amber glass and to fill the bottle as much as possible to better the chances of it NOT going rancid from exposure to air. This morning I started washing out a collection of amber glass beer bottles for making some soda pop later. It occured to me that our wine vacuum pump's rubber cork would fit into the 12 ounce beer bottles. I tried and it did. ok :-) Has anyone here tried bottling their tinctures and oils in amber glass wine or beer bottles? Wouldn't using the vacuum pump to remove air from the bottle mean that as one dispensed the oil into smaller bottles one could continue to use the larger (wine or beer) bottle for storage of the bulk of oil? Everytime one took a small amount out the rubber stopper could be put back in and the air pumped out of the bottle with the manual vacuum tool. They store oils in a gallon jug at school. Now I'm wondering if there's a vacuum pump and rubber cork that would fit that size as well. Am I being foolish? Penel who it takes the whole of a week for her husband and her to make it through a theraputic bottle of red wine and really likes how this tool keeps that one bottle of wine fresh all week
