Guest guest
Yes, my man tells me too that the grey makes me sexier and I am feeling it these days! I think it all boils down to what makes each individual feel sexy and attractive. Some of us would never walk around with grey hair and others are comfortable with it. It's how we feel about ourselves that counts. If we feel good inside, we are then free to pick and choose ways to accessorize our bodies...coloring hair (or not), periodically changing our hairstyle, wearing different clothing, wearing make-up (or not). I noticed that most of the people here talking about having grey hair (or coloring it) spoke about how it makes THEM feel, not just how others felt about it, and that's really they bottom line. I have never given a thought to NOT coloring my hair. It's just a decision I made and do it. I'm not trying to fool anyone about my age (including myself). I just look and feel better without the grey and see nothing wrong with looking my best. People have been coloring their hair for centuries...maybe since the beginning of time? ;-). Gloria ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gloria, You know, I feel that with all of the other detoxing I do in my diet, and in my environment, that this is my one vice. I use an air filtration system, I use both a water filtration system and an optimzer, I eat good whole foods, I use all natural personal care products, and I take supplements for detoxing. Because of what I do, I really practice what I preach, and I try to live a totally healthy lifestyle. I must admit, though that I feel a little bad. I teach people how to live healthy and chemical free, and I still do this one thing. I have to think that hair dye is the only bad thing I do. I will say, however, that up until now, I have only used the semi-permanent, which washes out in 24 shampoos. That is supposed to be less harmful. I will also say, that I have dark brown hair, and I think grey has more of an effect on those with dark hair. If one has blonde hair, it doesn't make the skin look so washed out and pale. I know, I am rationalizing. Barb RN, Holistic Healthcare Consultant www.pulseparty.com/WholeFoodNutrition
Guest guest
I've had some grey hair since I was in my late teens. It started coming in heavier in April last year when my mother passed away. I think it was around December of last year that I decided that I was no longer going to color my hair. There were several reasons - 1) I hated shelling out $60 every six weeks to someone to color my hair and 2) I thought to myself, everything else about me is natural (except my eating plan), I don't wear makeup, I thought I was eating well, what you saw was what you got. Something also seemed to happen to me when I became post-menopsausal. I started thinking - not that grey hair was sexy, but that it was a sign of wisdom, for me it was a part of who I was, how I got to where I am, etc. BTW, we had a sister luncheon last weekend. My younger sister said to me, " I love that white streak in your hair! Do you color it that way? I want my hair to look like that! " I laughed and said, " honey this is all nautural! You too could have hair like this if you would stop coloring your hair. " She got a cut and color two days later. Go figure! Yes, my man tells me too that the grey makes me sexier and I am feeling it these days! Ah, but Deb, you're only as sexy as you feel or as my Dh says... " You'll always be sexy to me..
